Found a brake fluid leak on my MINI Cooper S after the pedal started feeling like a sponge. There was a pinhole in a rotted brake line.

No way you're thinking of gettin' rid of the Mini Cooper!.. You've made some good repair videos on the Mini. In fact, Ive been looking forward to more Mini Cooper DIY's. Subscriber for nearly a year!

Thanks for being subbed and watching for so long! I'm not 100% sure yet on the Mini. I want to finish the Porsche and boat projects before I make a final decision on it. I'm pretty sure it needs bearings inside the transmission. If I part it out I will make a ton of videos about how to remove the parts. I just got sort-of a parts sponsorship, so that might make it possible to fix up and keep it as a whole car. It also needs a windshield, more bushings, exhaust, and tail lights (because they spider cracked in the cold weather this past winter).

i have the same problem. by following your steps i found out that my rear brake line also has the leak. i wonder how to replace it. Good Video sir. 💯

Can you just cut out the bad section and repair it or do you have to replace the whole line?

thats an excellent point, if something does pop then it is better to have a failure in a controled secure location instead of on the freeway unexpectedly

I had no brake fluid left in my car, yet the brake pedals didn't feel spongy. Does that mean I still had enough brake fluid left and you would always notice a difference before your brakes fail entirely?

Hope to see a respond. I have a 2011 lexus gs300. The brakes were not good and not too bad. I changed the master cylinder. Still the same issue but when I press the brake pedal slowly , it goes down and does not stop the car. This issue was not there before!! 3 mechanics told me it is the ABS Actuator just by looking on how the rear brakes bleed oil. Any suggestions ??

I bought a car 3 days ago. Day 2 pedal hits the floor in traffic. Thank fully it was ok. Finding it is a night mare. Think its coming from the front. No pressure in the brake pedal at all. So all 4 wheels and the clutch want a full bleed once its found. FGS but im back to work and its going to cost me more. A garage quoted 545 to do al the brake lines I havent got it. But thanks for the video

@@BurNer-i5e mine was the Corrosion of the 2 rear brake lines. They rN behind the axel and not seen easy until in a ramp axel down to fix

Just tried it and at first it was kinda soft not much just a little, but at the second and third time it was pretty hard. Never made to the floor anyways, not even when I felt it a little soft

That is because the brake booster doesn't work when the car is off. That is normal

this video is 4 years old so not sure if you will see this comment but my brake pedal will go to the floor when the car is on but when it is off the pressure will come back and feel like normal. But as soon as I turn the car on again I lose all pressure. What does this mean?

That's normal. The ABS will do that while it's off it will lock after you keep pressing.

@@imurleader22 yea thanks man, for anyone else reading the thread. The issue was my abs, there was a small leak in it and over time air got into the system. So just had to flush the breaks and get a new abs when I have the money lmao

@@space_cadet2174 I'm catching hell. Changed my front brake pads yesterday and the brake pedal was going to the floor. Got out to look and its leaking brake fluid under my suburban midway where the truck door step is. Let a street mechanic check it out, he says the brake lines need replacing they rusted. Crazy it wasn't leaking anything until the brakes was changed.

This is for people who are looking for the source of a leak and if it blows out then the car is already too dangerous to be driving on the road and it's good that the car is undriveable until it can be fixed, don't be stupid

Bro, you cant even be serious. As he explained. The car was already undriveable (safely). Nobody came looking for this video for a laugh. Clearly they're experiencing a problem with their brakes. Its BETTER that it's left in the driveway than take it out on the road with no brakes. Not an opinion. Just facts.
