I've just recently started to do spa repairs and I came across your videos, started watching and learned a lot! I haven't yet gone to the extent you have in this video to locate & repair a leak/leaks - but I eventually will - and watching you has given me the confidence I've been needing to tackle the job. I've sealed 3 swim spas that had manufacturing leak issues at the main drains, and sealed it the way you described - while using common sense - and l never got a callback from all three customers! (Sealed 5 total main drains; easy fix, because these spas aren't foamed like the one in this video) Mahalo brother! Love your tutorial videos 😎🤙🏽 Subscribed!👍🏽

Thanks Spa Man. I am an older female, and believe my leak is in the same area, because I began filling the tub yesterday and water began leaking when water got to that jet area. My biggest problem is going to be moving the tub out of its spot on the patio. Thank you for a detailed demostration of how to make the repair. It is a different brand, but I figure they all work pretty much the same. I am in Ohio so hope I can get this done before freezing weather. Very clear instructions, thanks so much.

Man, you made that look easy. I have removed half the insulation on my HotSprings spa the past few days, for the life of me I cannot find the leak. The foam was so full of water, everywhere I go the bottom 6 inches or so are wet. It seems like all the water I am finding is just that coming out of the foam, because its all cold.

💯I am using your mantra: Its just hoses with water running through folks, Don't go crazy!" This gets me to not lose patience and remember the vids you have done where you had to be patient as well to get through the spray foam and find where it could be. Patience galore is needed. Thanks for the mantra. I am repeating it in my head ALOT! 🥴 I have a roto molded 2 person spa to work with. I just spent 3 hours this late morning before too much heat of the day comes of jacking the small spa up about 26 inches and starting to take the plastic panels off the designated rectangular area's underneath. I started pulling the spray foam as well to the jet area's. I didn't feel any moisture around the 6 jets where I started with. There are two jets on the other side. I stopped to regroup my thoughts as I was getting tired and my wrists were getting tired from pulling the foam and sqeezing my hand in some spots. I plan to stop on the 6 jet side and check the two jet side. I found some small rounded spray foam bits and I am thinking maybe a little mouse got in somewhere? I will follow up tomorrow, after a bit of a break, and to get the dogs cooled off with pool play fun. Summer is so short. Cheers Canada East in Atlantic Canada in a heat wave warning....yikes!

I do it without cutting/removing the lines. Most times you can get in there enough to back off the large nut holding the jet all the way off. Large oil filter plyers will often work great or sometimes a flat head screwdriver and a small hammer to tap it loose then push the jet body forward and remove the old seal and clean up any silicone front and back. Resilicone in the bather area with a marine grade silicone and push the jet back in. Then silicone the back side and tighten the large nut. JMO

I’ve been searching for a leak myself. My 2020 Hot Springs Grandee sprung a leak and NOBODY will touch it. Not even the Hot Springs dealer. This is one of the reasons I started the RU-vid channel several years ago... Some Manufactures as well as dealers suck...And I hate to say it but when it comes to a leak in a Hot Springs Good luck (And I don't mean that in a bad way)Hot Spring is the one and only Hot Tub that I have never ever been able to fix the leak in...I could find it but was never able to fix it long term. let me tell you a little story ..my ten year old son would use our HotSprings Grandee to swim in all the time...The catch was he had to add a gallon of water every day or I told him it was going be be emptied ..I tried to fix the leak for over a year and then it would leak again and again. At the time I was working out of my back yard while remodeling my shop and had 8 plus spas for sale at my home, A customer came to buy a spa and out of every spa I had he wanted mine with the leak and was willing to pay a lot of money for it because it was a Hot Springs..no matter what I told him he would not change his mind... So I sold it to him and delivered it and set it all up..It now been nine years and it still leaks a gallon or two a day has went through several pumps and one heater two covers and several jets...we placed it on the grass because of the leak and the grass stays green all the way around the tub and that customer is happier then a Pig in SHIT... Go figure The sides have been removed and put back on several times and he has tried every thing to fix the leak and has never been able to and has said that there are several more but one stops for a while and another one starts up ...One day I know I will be hauling it to the dump and Ill bet it is going to weight a ton because of all the water soaked up in the wood... Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING( My son is 19 now)

While Hot Springs does generally have a great reputation I won’t buy one. I’ve talked to numerous techs that won’t touch Hot Springs. They won’t even pick them up for free as they are too much of a hassle to deal with. When they leak they are a nightmare to pinpoint where it’s coming from.

I had a Jacuzzi Tirage about 25 years ago and the installed the spray insulation with a plastic bag against the tub and piping which made removal very easy. Just wiggle the bundle and it came out and was molded to match the shape of the piping. I am in the process of repairing a leak on my Hot Springs hot tub and it is a nightmare trying to remove the insulation. I thought I would have been better off buying another Jacuzzi brand but they evidently now spray the insulation like everybody else making it a nightmare not to mention having to purchase and install new spay foam. The old way, you could re-use the insulation because it would remain dry cause it was wrapped in plastic. I guess progress or more accurately cost savings on the manufacturers partscreates a nightmare for us the consumers.

I know the full foam insulation supposedly is much better at insulating and gives some support, but damn... I can't imagine what a nightmare this makes complicated repair jobs. They have to have a better way of building these that gives some access for repairs.

Same here for a roto molded spa so I have to get underneath it. There are rectangular designated areas but is that enough room for me to reach in, pull the soft insulation out, wet of course, and be able to get my hands in there to get at the job. I know from draining it and stopping just at the bottom of the first row of jets that one of those 5 jets is leaking or more?? Once I dropped the water level just below the first row of jets and left it over night, the next morning the dripping had stopped. So that narrows down the task a bit. I have it jacked up 8 inches high. I have to tilt it on its side next to get at the underneath. Thanks for this video. I have been googling to find as many youtube spa repair people to help me along. cheers from Atlantic Canada, province of Prince Edward Island.

I dumped the water and refilled with cooler tap water. After the water heater up so much, I now have a leak I didn't have prior. Is it possible the heat caused a crack or possibly expanded a joint causing this leak? If so, how likely, is it that there may be several places that now leak? Thanks, Steve in Chandler.

I can totally relate to my calk also causing a mess afterwards however , ibut assuming that you will be spending quite som,e time masteringt yourr calk. Hey, Scott. Love all of your videos. I had a question on this one. When you hand tighten the nut on the back of the jet housing, do you put a bead of silicon between the nut and the back of tub basin? I see other videos on the same topic that do this which seems to glue the nut into place on the back of the tub. Whoever put the jet housings in that I'm replacing clearly gooped up the back (which made getting the old jets out a chore). You didn't mention or show this in the video, and it did not appear to have silicon oozing out the backside in your video. Seems after your explanation, the seal on both sides of the gasket are the only thing you need. Wrench tighten the nut 180-360 degrees after 24 hours to tighten it all down (no extra silicon needed). Hopefully you see this question and can respond. Thanks for the help. You are the man!

At around the 3 minute Mark you show why looks like a plastic washer that has split, did you replace that washer, not use it when repairing or reuse it and the caulking/gasket sealed everything. I have the same issue on my jacuzzi and wondering if I need a new self leveling plastic washer or not!

I can't remember what I did with this one... Everyone I do is never like the last one....And this one was done some 7 months ago and over 100 tubs ago...S0 if they have a crack and when Im dry fitting everything and it doesn't look right I will replace with a new or good used one and then seal everything up...#1 Pro tip ..Do a good job getting it clean , seal it up with a good caulk and let it dry over night ... PS. So you refill the foam into the empty area now, or leave it open?. Or use some other type of insulation. IE in New England it's cold so what do you suggest. Thank you again.

@spaman5440 10 месяцев назад
You can use closed cell foam or open cell foam both have pros and cons. There is so much more to it then what type of foam...And what type of foam is in the Hot Tub you are working on.Very important!!!!! What state do you live in. What is your hot tub is made of Who made the hot tub How clean you can get it before you reapply new foam. Do you have the proper chemical to remove the old foam After using chemicals do you know and have the proper way to dispose of and clean up the area.(This happened BAD results) How big is the area that you are working with Have you let it dry out for several day if not week so you don't reapply it and get mold(This happened very very BAD) And the list of things keeps going on and on. This is a video Ive want to for a while..But it comes with a lot of concerns that I have. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

I wish I would of shown how I finished this spa..But I wasn't thinking and didn't not film the insulation part... I use spray foam that will not absorb any water and it has a really high R rating...HomeDepot has this I usually get it buy the case online from who ever has the best price. I will be doing another video this soon and will try to show how I do it so it stays in place ..Hope this Helps ... Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Kind of in a round about way...(YES)This was a hot tub that we took in on trade... When we removed it form the former owners home it had several problems,,, All three motors and pumps needed to be rebuilt as well as the circulation pump.. After fixing all of that we filled the tub up with water and found out it had three leaks and the water feature didn't work. We fixed all the leak and water feature , replaced all the head cushions built a New Spa Cover with cover lift. It was SOLD before we even had it in our shop to complete all of the needed repairs after finishing all of the work it was moved to its new home and as far as I know is still working to this day... We have a Dream Maker II that is just a little over two years old now and been chasing this leak for more than a year now. Can this unit be placed on the side to make it easier to look under it or do I have to do something else? I see that your in Arizona as we are, are you located in the Tucson area? Can I bring this unit to you and have it repaired, or do you make service calls?

@spaman5440
@spaman5440 Год назад
It depends on what is going on ? If is a leak they should have removable panels on the bottom and in that case you would need to put the spa on something so a tech or yourself could get under it to find and fix the leak. If its something to do with the pack or the pump/motor there should be a panel on the front of the spa most often under the top side control the can be removed so you are able to gain axes to the equipment .
