HOW TO FIND GOLDEYE IN THE RIVER - RedDeer River

This was a three day fishing trip in Drumheller Alberta. We tried for trout sturgeon walleye and Goldeye. It took me until Day three to figure out the formula and then it was Fish on every second or third cast. The only hint I will give you is we were near the big dinosaur. If you want me to show you the spot we can go fishing together next spring. We tried several spots starting on day one all the way down by Dorothy. We tried under the bridge just east of town.
We tried a few spots just north of town as well but the money was the stretch of river from the Tyrrell Museum turn off all the way down to the East End of town.. I film this with my GoPro and my DJI Mavic mini. It was uploaded and edited on my MacBook using iMovie.

Thank you. I bring the drone with me all the time but I'm usually so busy fishing and running around that I forget to use it. I'm going to make an attempt this summer to use it a lot more. I have never tried to smoke them. Do you take the scales off or smoke them with the skin and scales on?

@@FishGawd just cut the head off gut them, brine and long smoke. Different brine ((( I cup coarse salt 1 cup brown sugar, 2 cubes Oxo a little molasses 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar I litre of coke )) double or triple the recipe if needed YUMMMMY CYU

That is a great question. The first time I actually caught one was two years ago. I spent most of my life in BC and the Vancouver area. The first gold eye I caught I thought it was white fish as well.

Goldeye and mooneye are actually the only 2 species in their family/order so they’re really their own unique type of fish.

Cross the bridge. Park at the liquor store. Walk behind the liquor store and down to the river. Walk east about 300 yards on the north bank.

There isn’t a massive head of fish in the Red Deer river and I used to find lots of night lines so I used to pull them out because unfortunately a lot of immigrants do not respect t the rules ,there is no need to kill everything.

If you wanted the walleyes you should have been fishing on the other side of the river from where you were.
