Pull the line instead of yarding the rod. You’ll get your rig back more often that way. Better to break a line than your rod!

Back to the river! Can’t wait to see you do some big pike fishing, super fun and intense.

randomly came across this but want to say the best way to snap your line and save your rod is to crank down in the drag (or if the line is thin enough just hold the line), point your rod tip right at the snag, and pull back with a steady pressure

Those are pretty cool looking fish. I definitely have to make a trip to the NSR to target them before our winter make it hard. Cheers good fishing homie!

First time fishing in Canada. I and my two kids have been to NSR Devon, Hermitage, Whitemud, Terwillegar this summer. We’ve been using floater, sinker, pickerel rigs. Tried plastic baits, rubber baits and even with live worms from Cabela’s. Never had a single bite. Kids got discouraged and gave up. They said not to come with me again next time. I too been lazy to go again.

Kids these days will use a single bad day fishing as an excuse to spend all day inside for the rest of their life.

That sucks about the rod, especially after just saying you've had it everywhere with you. I've been hitting the river a lot this year, cool to see you back at the river again.
