Do you find yourself snoozing your alarm on a Monday morning and dreading your commute to a job that feels meaningless? It doesn't have to be like this. Ross passionately believes that work can be awesome for everyone. When work is meaningful, it has the power to energise and enrich our lives. In this impactful talk, Ross finds a playful way to present his "Bubbles of Meaning" framework using helium balloons and real-life stories from his research to show how you can make work more meaningful. He founded Rise with a mission to inspire people to find meaning at work and help organisations to lead with meaning. He has consulted in careers, culture, and leadership for 20 years. He is the host of "The meaning of work" podcast interviewing hundreds of people about how they make work, work for them. Through 16 years’ experience as a consultant, his academic research and personal experience, Ross has discovered that if meaningful work is at the centre of what we do, success follows. If you’re doing the work you love, your whole life feels better. Interestingly, this works for businesses too, the best places to work are the most productive, creative and profitable. With this in mind, he has developed a practical framework called, ‘Bubbles of Meaning’ to simplify this fascinating, yet complex subject.
What really piques his curiosity is how people have made work, work for them, and the stories that surround these circumstances. This is something that Ross explores in his podcast series ‘The Meaning of Work’, where he inspires and motivates listeners to take ownership of doing something that’s meaningful to them. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
