THIS QUOTE! “ Despite the fact that there is so much wisdom out there, the human condition remains so fiercely broke. Our satisfaction with who we are as individuals, the way that we interact and the way that we live on the planet is still so unsatisfying on so many levels. Even when we look at the people who are objectively from the outside looking in, living good lives, I just keep wondering what we are missing. Even if there is a hint of a hint of a hint of an answer to that I can help provide, I’m all in on that” - A BEAUTIFUL act of service. I’d love a hug break with both of you because this, probably not so perfect quote, and like every podcast you dish out, makes me vibrate outward the wavelength that is truly me being one with myself. To all your hard work, Rich ✌🏼❤️🌱🙏🏼

As an HSP who's just given his working notice with no job lined up, this is great timing. I've been burned out at my last 3 jobs from not respecting my boundaries and limitations, trying to live to the standards of others when mine are specific to me. Thanks Rich & John

You can be a doctor and a maker of craft beer…. The sky is the limit…. Seriously , you can be anything you want to be ..to a limit may be , but the only work is you have to turn those ideas into actions ! Always doable 👌❤️Someone very close to me is doing exactly that, and it brings happiness and variety in his life ;). This was an awesome podcast, thank you Rich !

The wild idea that we are here simply to exist, as any creature or plant in nature, terrifies most people. This is because we have such a powerful collective ego (involuntarily inherited agreement) that we are kings of the planet and SUPPOSED to be doing something. It's been engrained in us for eons. When you can learn to shake that, become more present and accepting of what is at any given moment, and find peace in existing peacefully on this planet...you will naturally just find things that you gravitate towards. If you feel inclined to then call that your "purpose" or "meaning in life", that's fine. However, the labels and identifying everything is totally unnecessary. Setting up this structure of having a role, a path, a destination, a thing you are supposed to be doing, as if it will fulfill your life... is ALL the work of the mind/ego. Let go, have faith in the process and just be, then experience true freedom and liberation ✌🌱

Happiness is a derivative of a well-lived life. As Emerson once said, the purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

people listen to podcasts on youtube because its easy. its not a constantly changing platform that demands passwords then rejects them. it doesnt require updates and it doesnt intentionally make itself irritating because it has decided it wants you to use a different streaming service or a more profitable app. youtube just works. its good for those of us that want to spend more time learning and less time being subservient to inanimate objects. and yeah it is all about the audio.

With all due respect to Jonathan, who makes great points about attitude towards work throughout the video, but I found this whole sparketypes thing extremely superficial. I don't follow his logical at all when he says that one can feel recognized or seen when you take his test and see the result. That sounds sad - like identifying with the very general description of your horoscope. Breaking the extreme variety which is mankind down into 10 'sparketypes' is not only lame, but is something that reminds me too much of teen girl magazines or Buzzfeed quizes.
@atjudahcast8126
@atjudahcast8126 2 года назад
You make an excellent point here. I ignored all of that “spark personality” stuff because he’s just leaning into a classic self help trope which is great for selling books. HOWEVER he did espouse a lot of wisdom about how to pursue success by knowing where your strengths lay and how to apply them WHERE YOU ARE AT without doing the crazy Gary Vaynerchuk “QUIT YOUR JOB AND RISK IT ALL” mentality which is way to pervasive in the world of career coaching and self help.
@seattlejones2908
@seattlejones2908 2 года назад
???… what part of identifying and decoding research so that people can realize what ignites their energy flow and passion from a professional level says superficial? I challenge you to dive in more to understand how and why this would be helpful in a world full of people who have to work and would prefer to do so in a meaningful way that makes them feel alive and excited to be the work. My 3 types were absolutely accurate for me undeniably. Please share your Sparketype combo. I need to understand where you are coming from better. When someone spends years developing a method to help me identify my best space to operate in, especially when I have been struggling with this for a long time…they need recognition for a job well done!

to be honest…i get bored hearing your guests’ life stories. it makes me feel like i’m sitting at a cafe with two people who are catching up with each other and i am left out. i want more value sooner in the conversation. as enjoyable as it is for you to talk for two or more hours with a friend, i don’t have that amount of time to hang out and just listen and wait. its not that i have a short attention span or wouldnt sit for an hour if it was all value for me. but half of it sometimes its just… meh.
