Hi Sam, here's a tricky question: I love taking photos of everything, all the way from super-macros to astrophotos, the only exception being anything that has people; I'm not really a people-person 😁 I was wondering if it is possible for a new photographer to get by with photographing less humans if any at all, to may be at least partially recoup the financial investment of the equipment. In such a case in your opinion what kind of avenue should I explore?
Hey! Here is a trickier questions for you... Do you really not like taking photos of people or are you scared of photographing people because of the social interaction? I find most beginner photographers stick to nature and landscape due to the fear of having to direct someone else and be vulnerable doing something they love that the other person might not like... In my opinion, it is a lot easier to become profitable as a photographer when working with people or people's businesses. But, if you truly dont like photographing people, product photography could be a good avenue. I think it is possible to make money shooting wildlife, nature and landscapes but it's a much more difficult niche. You need to be exceptionally good at it, and would need to master other skills as well, wether is breaking into the fine art industry, stock photography, or creating products with your images... Hope that helps!
