I realized that if you are not Warren Buffett nor someone in the industry. it's difficult to make decent profit from the stock market, stock picking is an effort in futility particularly at an uncertain time such as this, my portfolio is still significant about $150k but I'm not confident about picking stocks anymore. Are there really no other options for me to gain from the stock market? I'm open to ideas.

It's hard to beat the market as an regular investor, you don't have access to information that professionals have. So it's just better if you invest with a professional who knows how things work better.

Picking stocks is a risky affair, particularly for non-professionals, I learnt that in 2020 when I lost almost everything but I was lucky to switch to using a financial advisor who has better knowledge of the market than I do and I've been returning at least $70k every month, just too bad I didn't learn this earlier on.

that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+

I’d say don’t downplay the need and importance of working with a FA, at my own onset I made a couple of losses but had my portfolio stuck, It’s been eleven months with a professional guiding me and my returns have recently topped half a million. I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

Diversifying your portfolio is crucial. Good stocks are a good starting point, but you should diversify your risk with a variety of assets. which is exactly the reason I stopped taking advise from RU-vidrs; in the long run, I only end up with a jumbled collection of stocks and bonds. Whereas all I needed to earn over $350k in less than three years was guidance from a true market strategist.

I’m compiling and picking stocks that I’d love to hold on to for a few years before retirement, do you think these stocks would do better over the years? I’d love to retire with at least $2million savings. Now you gotta rely on a pretty good diversification if you must stay green. Currently up 31% and being cautious. Still better deal than letting it sit in savings or checking earning near 5% interest

I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. Very true, people downplay advisors role, until burnt by their mistakes. I remember just after my layoff early 2020 amidst covid outbreak, I needed to stay afloat, hence researched for license advisors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge, and decades of experience, my stagnant reserve of $225K has yielded nearly $1m after subsequent investments so far
