I've looked at this again and think the bend deduction throws in a curved ball . So look at it like this 100 - 4 vertical height to start of bend ( external radius of component ) + 100-4 horizontal length to start of bend where 4 is the external bend radius then from the formula 90/180 x Pi x ( 2+(0.6x2)) gives 4.08 mm . So BA =4.08 mm Now add the sums together to give 96 + 4.08 +96 = 196.08 mm Height to external radius + bend allowance + length of horizontal face to external radius . I hope this helps show what he has done here .
