I love writing by hand because it's so portable and less of a temptation to steal. I have found I don't write as well in public (or read or study) because I am too hyper aware of my surroundings. Snippets if ideas or barebones structure, yes, but to really flesh it out I need the quiet and isolation of a special spot.

After listening to your video on the four notebook system you shared, I immediately bought 8 notebooks, 100 pages each, and since I prefer longhand over typing, it was a game changer ! I wrote 15 pages the first day and have reached my goals every day since. The four notebook system is the ticket for me ! Thank you Mary ! ❤
@@maryadkins thank you Mary ! Your videos have made a huge difference in my writing…I first read Julia Cameron’s book, “The Artist’s Way” back in 2000. What a game changer. What I found was writing first in longhand, made the words flow and , like last night, spill onto ten binder pages within an hour. Don’t ask. I’m just as confused. But the papers seem to fly off my clip board as fast as I would add another blank page. Longhand seems to have that “red phone”☎️ path straight to my brain. When I tried to be a “big girl author”, as in “if I type on a laptop, I must be serious”, I spent more time correcting one paragraph, when the same amount of time writing longhand produced 10 times as much. I love the notebook theory you shared. Brilliant Writing this way really shows my progress, the words just flow, and it is so rewarding to start writing in the second 100 page notebook ! ( especially when the notebook covers are pretty. lol. I am 65 and the older I get the more I find simpler is better. 😊 ( my parents graduated from Stanford as did their parents and living in and around Palo Alto , and now living in another part of the state, I truly relish the less techy life. )
