Newwww subscriber here!!!! My style is very anime/graphic style and sometimes with simple rendering. As I continue to progress it, I notice even when I try to study other artists and trying to change some stuff I want to improve I always go to what I know. Trying to work on that, but at the same time I see the improvement I’ve made in a couple of years. ❤😊
Yuuuuup thats pretty much expected that you will stick with what you already know, heck I do it all the time 😂But the great thing is that since you already have what you already know you can build upon it which is much easier than starting from zero 😉💖
Eh a little misleading truth be told. As an artist who arts and doesnt care about popularity I can say this. People who art didn't fit their 'style' to be popular it is literally built up by knowledge they take what they have learned and add it to their stuff then detract things they dont care for as much evolving their own style. Yes someone can say they followed things by arting in a popular way, but honestly maybe thats just how they draw. Yes artists can mimic eachother thus style challenges, but ones style is their own finger print no one can exactly replicate because they are not that artist. The opening comment just rubbed me a bit the wrong way because art is not about popularity its about expression and doing what you love. To say another artist does their art how they do to gain popularity just isn't right :/ This is just my perspective people can agree or disagree i really dont care, but to all artists of all levels do what makes you happy not a bunch of strangers who you will never appease.
I completely agree with everything you just said because it does take a crap ton of experience and self discovery of who you are as an artist that develops your art style. And the reason why I said that you can manufacture an art style is because I myself have been doing it for games I have worked on and I have also heard from other artists that they switched their art style to be more appealing and that style "glow up" helped grow their audience. The reality is that you CAN create an art style to become popular, but whether or not you enjoy making the art in that style and if the style represents you as an artist is an entirely different story 🤷♀ But I 100 percent agree that all artists at any level should create art that they enjoy and the creation process should also be fun. You should never strive to appease a group of strangers just to become popular, its shallow and you aren't being true to yourself as an artist 😤💖
