Understanding what eye shape you have is the first step to applying beautiful eyeshadow. In this video i will guide you through the various eye shapes so you can know for sure what eye shape you have and made any adjustments to your current eyeshadow routine.
Basic eye shapes are:
Standard Eyes - that would be me.
Hooded Eyes - Taylor Swift.
Wide Set Eyes - Kate Moss.

I like how he has his own opinions and doesnt just go along with what our society deems as most beautiful. I have downturned eyes and A LOT of videos kind of bash them and see them as a problem. Who knew that they could actually be thought of as"sexy."

I think that everyone is beautiful just as they are, but I suffered a lot a few years ago because I heard some girls saying that my eyes were ugly because they are wide-set eyes. Hearing you say that wide-set eyes are considered beautiful really changed the way I feel about them (I'm not hating on other type of eyes, I just love Wayne and hearing that from him really make me feel great about my self) Thank you, Wayne ❤️

I am 40 something & I have known my eye shape for over 20 years. However, my daughter does not have eyes shaped like mine, & she is nearing makeup age. So I decided to check out makeup techniques to be able teach her how best to accentuate her beautiful face. I watched several videos on how to determine your eye shape. Yours was by far the best. And it was the only one I commented on. You explained the different eye shapes beautifully, plus you showed us examples of each type in case we were uncertain after your description. Thank you very much for this video. You can tell you a great makeup artist who knows his business.

When you address the Asian eyes can you please talk a bit about the epicanthic fold? I have almond eyes.. and like you say i change their shape all the time I love the cat eye look but once in a while i make them look more round and all just with makeup.. I do have some issues with my epicanthic fold.. it does not always work out but I make it work by not putting eyeliner on it and start a few millimeters after the fold close to the lashes and thicker as it goes out to the edge of the eye.

I have almond eyes too and to make them rounder I shade the outer corner and inner corner and leave the middle a lighter shade, giving a rounder look than add loads of mascara.

I can't wait for the videos you say you're going to post about almond eyes because I've never been too big on make up. But now that I'm 23, grown up, and entering the professional major league world I would like to be more polished and presentable, so I'm doing that with make up! So I just wanted to let you know that I love how you keep reiterating that eyes are different and different things work for different eyes! I look at different RU-vidrs videos about eye shadow application and well I get kind of confused because I know not all eyes are different. So when I came across your channel and videos, I knew I found the right teacher!

I always knew I had downturned eyes (great for the puppy eyes look and asking for things) but I didn't know it could combine with another characteristic so thank you for that. I have to say I like this tutorial better than your previous one on eye shapes. I am a visual learner and actually seeing the examples of eye shapes on actual people helped me identify my eye shape. I have deep set eyes but because of age they have also drooped on the outside corners and my eyes are close together as well. So this video was very helpfull. Thank you very much.

My thoughts are that I love the way you speak about women ;) and still I'm not sure because I feel like my eyes are slightly hooded (for example when I do a flicked eye liner the flick is kind of hidden under the skin). I'm starting to think that maybe my eyes are deep set, but then they are quite large and almond shaped! confused all the way haha ;) the good thing, though, is that I found a makeup look that makes me look good and I feel really nice wearing it :) love from Poland!

+Wayne Goss I have "standard almond" eyes -- that is, the outer corner of my eyes is higher than the inner corner, but otherwise my eyes are standard. What is the best? Do you recommend emphasizing the tilt with eyeliner, or drawing the eye down with eyeliner under the eye. I do both, depending on mood. (Sometimes both at the same time.) I generally don't like to use liner under the entire eye, as it tends to pull the eyes inward and down toward the nose (I think.) But was wondering if you had any insights. Great video. Thanks.

I loved your video but I think one can absolutely have deep set eyes that are hooded! Mine were standard deep set eyes until the past few years when the upper lid started to drop slightly on to the outer corner of the mobile lid. It is normal because the skin gets loose as it ages, and also because my eyes are so deep into my face the mobile lid gets obscured behind the skin. I had to slightly adjust the way I put liner on the top lid, so they don't look droopy, and combine illuminating the mobile lid with your advice of applying shadow in a straight line for hooded eyes, which works like a charm! ❤️🤗

I have wide set, somewhat deep set almond shaped eyes. I really like my eye shape although I have an extra crease on one eye that makes eyeshadow a bit annoying to get even. This was super informative, thank you!

Thank you! I wish I would have found this 3 years ago! I had a 'mini-makeover' at the make up counter and looked near death, now I know why. I have close set - deep set eyes so all the dark matte lid makeup that was applied made my eye sockets appear to start near the back of my skull. Not super flattering ;) Thank you!

This one video has taught me more about eye types/shape and what to do with them than all the beauty magazines (and more recently, RU-vid) I have read/watched in my entire life. I now understand why my attempts at a smoky eye always make me look like a zombie (deep set, somewhat close set eyes.) Thank you so much, keep up the good work!

Subscribed. I have deep set eyes and very fair skin, and I've always used a shimmery neutral beige (almost highlight) on my lid and just liner and mascara for every day. Turns out I was doing the right thing!
