@@orendjohnsonjr I don't wanna be a 🤓or something but I think it was a joke on "Ok so your persona is yourself, then what are the characteristics that make you be you? that will be the answer to both 'who are your persona' and 'who are you'" well it's not really a joke but I think you can understand
I’m struggling on how not to overthink all the elements and just emulate what i like both on a music and persona level. I have ocd, autism, anxiety, depression and mild bipolar
Don’t overthink! Take just a pen and a piece of paper and write there all your feelings. You could do great songs also you could use music as therapy, will works, believe me 🙏🏼
I got ocd adhd anxiety and depression heres what you gotta do when you in your feels just write down flows and lyrics bout whats on your mind write bout interesting stuff in your life if lyrics come to mind write em down it takes time but you get there some people gotta learn how to not overthink but everybody can learn just write without thinking hard
None of these artists forced their sound. The lyrics and flows come naturally. It’s what makes you an artist in the first place. The marketing, imagery, videos, and themes is what you need to put effort into
I need to make rap songs about Success Storytelling Religion Personal Struggles Introspection Loneliness Heartbreaks Poverty Emotional Pain Relationships Love
What I struggle with the most is really understanding the whole marketing aspect of music and knowing who my music targets. I guess just knowing what audience my music would cater too and understanding how to package it in a way that would get someone interested to actually listen to it.
Think about who your favourite artists are. Whatever ones bring the most inspiration into your work. Those would be your starter target audience. Aslong as your music is good & similar to the artist they’ll atleast give it a chance.
mate (I'm from U.K.) for the simple fact your here on this Howtorapdrew video, I'll be interested in your music - do you understand what I'm trying to say? I'm thinking it's got to be rap music (I know it might not be) I'll give it a listen - that's a starting point
Ask for forgiveness of sins, and be spared eternity in Hell. Have knowledge of The KJV Holy Bible! End Times are here. It's not like sleep when you Die. There an eternal place, so repent, and be in Heaven.
What I meant by personas are aliases. Like Z-Ro AKA The Mo City Don is an Alias he created. Mr. 3-2 reinvented his persona/Alias from the wicked Buddha baby to the governor.
My main problem is beat selection i know the sound they all have but not every song will be aggressive or anything i want it to change on my mood but have a signature sound that makes you know who it is when the beat comes in(sorry for anyone reading my paragraph but i appreciate it u for it reply if u want)
Bro just make music and don't worry about having a signature sound or anything.Just don't approach a beat like how you think another artist would approach it,then along the journey you're going to find your signature sound.
@@QaeD1seconding this, just pick any beat that makes you feel something, then turn theae feelings into lyrics and finally your song. Having variety/versatility is one of the greatest qualities an artist can have. Just be yourself, speak your mind and dont try to make your music in a way where you think about what would appeal to others. If your music is real and you are being authentic your own sound will cristalize itself soon enough
When it comes to beat selection you can either pick a particular element you like and want to focus on like the type of drum or the instrument that plays the melodies such as piano, guitar, flute or whatever or just hop on any type of beat that is appealing to you
having a sound that varies is good but you as an artist should have some idea what connects it all. And that’ll honestly just come from your personal tastes and interests. Think about what resonates with you artistically, musically and in terms of mood and make choices on that. Hone in on the sounds that work best for you and soon you’ll have your own musical recipe and vibe
Tbh if you need help to rap you shouldn't rap I'm here just to peep something along my journey...... I say keep working work hard make unique music and you will get there
Untrue. You're assuming that rapping is something you're born with and not something you learn. Language is learned in humans, so naturally manipulation of language is also learned.
Unfortunately, it's not about what you say, but how you say it. The band Nirvana Made entire career off of this method. Do yourself a favor and just search up nirvana lyrics for their most popular songs But still yet you still have to know how to write as a form cadences And rhyme patterns and how to form double antondras
Even if you are authentically yourself, to find success in a capitalist and commercialized industry, you have to commodify yourself and sell yourself as a recognizable package. just being yourself aint enough.
