I've found that playing Salmon Run is the best way to get acquainted with other weapons. Other game modes can feel scary considering most players use weapons they know they're good at so playing with people who most likely aren't using their mains either makes it way more fun

All the roles in a couple of words. Skrimishers - take fights, don’t lose them. Slayers - go in and try to get as many kills as possible, but try to keep yourself alive in certain situations (like if you don’t have Quick respawn.) Backline - Apply pressure to the enemy team. Don’t try to get a lot of kills, that’s the slayers job. Support - Supply aid to your teammates by taking space or painting the map and giving them a supportive special. Hope this helped!

I'm an inkbrush main, just because the combination of splat bombs and killer whail 5.1 creates a really agressive kit that can work in a bit larger range than the inkbrush is capable of. And the satisfaction from splatting your opponent up close is something no other class can give me.

Beyond just unlocking weapons, Sheldon Licenses also heavily incentivized playing every weapon for a decent amount of time. While I did fall back into my usual mains of Mini Junior and Ballpoint, I've also really enjoyed playing Blaster and weirdly enough Flingza Roller. Once I can play Flingza without the extreme guilt of using a Tenta Missiles weapon, I'll probably pick up it's next kit, especially if it gets something like Burst/Tristrike or something.
@Yee-erOfHaws
@Yee-erOfHaws Год назад
Same here. Like you said, there's just something about the license system that helps give players that incentive to try out new weapons. Like you, I also went back to a main weapon of mine (I mained Clear Dapples in 2 and now I came back to regular Dapples) but I'm still getting interested in different types of weapons. Before I settled on Dapples I had tried out Range Blaster, Flingza, Splatana, Stringer, and now I'm looking for some abilities to help me try out Nautilus. Even if it doesn't turn out to be the weapon for me, I was still able to check it out at the very least.

Great video! Super positive and informative. If I may add something: for players that are overwhelmed with all the weapons in Splatoon 3 , I highly recommend also making an effort to try each of the subs/specials and pay attention to which ones you enjoy using. I started playing Jet Squelcher in Splat 3 because I really liked having a "teammate enabling" kit with Angle Shooter/Ink Vac. Nowadays it's become probably my favorite Splat 3 weapon, even though the main weapon was initially one I was less comfortable using than the sub/special.

Hey, I'm just getting into Splatoon and I wanted to say this video made a massive difference for me. Literally, my win rate jumped immediately and my points per match went from usually being on the bottom of the team to now usually being at or near the top of the entire match. What made the difference was finding my role, a weapon for that role, and rethinking why i'm playing. I was listening to you list off the roles and thinking "Ya maybe i can do that.... ya maybe that one..." Then you got to support talking about maintaining paint and map control and it instantly clicked like "Oh yes, that's it. That's my role." So I started looking up support weapons, and the Custom Jet Squelcher also really clicked with me. With that settled, it FINALLY gave me a direction to go towards with gear, which has been another element of the game I never knew what to do with. And finally, it helped me figure out my playstyle... staying very slightly back and prioritizing pushing up with map control. Basically, this video helped all the loose puzzle pieces align so I could start making sense of what I'm doing in the game. I'm now performing better and enjoying it more. Thanks :) EDIT: Oooohhhhhhhh my god nevermind it's the Hydra Splatling this shit is amazing

Tri-stringer also works pretty well as a long-distance support weapon. It's harder to land the one-shot KOs than with a charger, but it does much better at chipping and laying down ink all over the place, and it can hit people behind walls like an Explosher.

I spent way too many triple tickets on weapons I really wanted, now I'm trying weapons I already got to get the licenses to buy new ones. the absolute best advice this guy and other high ranks gave was trying out different things and seeing what works for you, and that's so true with how i found my main, splatlings, mainly the heavy and hydra. never in an million years did i ever see myself wielding these guys because if i were to go back to splatoon 2 and tell my old self that we would be splatling mains in splatoon 3, id probably laugh at you because i mainly played salmon run in 2 and i was basing my uses of the weapon with how i did with them in salmon run, and pretty much all the splatlings except the mini can be a chore to use, especially at professional rank. so when splatoon 3 came out and i figured out you could test weapons before buying, i sat there and demoed literally every weapon for like two hours, and the moment that clicked with me with the heavy was when i was able to take out a dummy pretty far away and had pretty good movement with a run speed up setup. so i took a risk, used my last golden license to get the heavy and the rest was history. a week later i saved up licenses for a hydra and now thats my main, and i use it as a frontline backup of all things lol. i always go with a teammate or am right behind a push. if my teammates come across something problematic, like a sniper or someone with a special, i have Booyah bomb to take care of it or to help out my team. and if things get dicy, i fall back to a position i can hold like a choke point or vantage point and spam this way to get my teammates to jump to me so we can regroup quickly and get right back into the battle since im usually not too far from the front lines. (in practice, it works well with my competitive friends, randos, not so much... 🤦‍♂️ but hey, that's competitive splatoon for ya 🤷‍♂️)

This is a really useful video, and regarding trying different weapons: I've probably had 15+ weapons that I "mained" over time in Splatoon 2 before I found the Range Blaster and focused really hard on playing it because it synergized well with the natural play style I enjoy. Even still, I constantly rotate different weapons in and pay attention to when I'm feeling burned out on playing one. An example was playing TONS of Sloshing Machine when 3 came out and I'm kinda.... over playing it for now xD I think the weapon diversity is one of the huge reasons I love this game! There's nothing more satisfying than picking up an E-liter and practicing it enough to where you can legitimately surprise yourself at how decent you can play it when you might have believed otherwise. Also all the skills you learn on any weapon give you some cross-training for your other weapons and help you understand how to fight them yourself.

I tried the Dualie Squlechers on a whim and started popping off and having a lot of fun, plus the splat bombs and the wave breaker vibe with my playstyle.

Lately I’ve been in love with the .52 gal. It’s a fun skirmisher/support weapon. I spec heavily into splash wall for helping teammates and boxing in opponents.

A tip for picking up other weapons is Salmon Run, since you'll need to be at least decent with a wide variety in order to succeed there. I used to only play short range aggro back when I started with Splatoon 2, but SR made me pick up the Hydra, and while I'm nowhere near as good with it as I am with slayers, it's a nice change of pace when I don't feel like rushing in. I'm happy it's so good in 3, but I'm worried it might get nerfed before long...

I had never tried the Hydra in Splatoon 2, and I've always thought about it being kinda slow and clunky for me, but in Splatoon 3 I gave It a try and now is one of my favourite weapons out there. I main It when there are high maps with good control points, and I enjoy that role. Even that, I still use more other weapons like Tetra-Dualies or Splash-o-matic, but trying and discovering new forms to play is quite fun, I really recomend you guys to test more weapons that the ones you always use. Being able to dominate more options will let you be capable of adaptating in more situations and to win more. Great video, Pro Chara!

I've found myself playing 2 weapons a lot recently. Splash in turf war, and Hydra in ranked. I used to be a roller main, and still enjoy playing rollers, but I can't deny the results I've gotten with Splash and Hydra either 20+ splat and 1k+ turf inked in games.

Thanks for all the content man, you're really making me discover a whole new side to this awesome game. Have you considered to make a guide to max out efficiently the equips? Because around the plaza I've seen many people with already maxed out sets, and since I'm not doing great in that department I wonder what I'm doing wrong. Again, thanks a lot for the vids

I was a charger main when I first started playing Splatoon, but then picked up on heavy, and really only played backline. But now in splatoon 3, I did a challenge where I used all the weapons in a anarchy series and it was so much fun seeing how all the weapons worked and the play styles, with me always ever playing backline. And now I’m playing weapons like splash o matic, Tenta Brella, and splattershot pro and will definitely keep using them in the future 👍

I fell in love with the hydra which is super surprising to me

when i first watched this video, i exclusively used splat dualies as they were the weapon i picked up during the testfire, as my first weapon of the series (i own splatoon 1 but never actually played it [siblings sighs]). i thought this was an interesting video, but never took it to heart and only tried out splash, as i really liked crab tank and thought a slightly different playstyle might be fun. i think i took this video to heart a little, since when the drizzle season dropped i started playing around with more weapons, trying them out and seeing what i liked and didnt like. i picked up carbon deco (thanks brian), and it was my first weapon to four stars (funnily enough, before splat dualies somehow). i tried dualie squelchers, which i ended up adoring.i started using octobrush, i think after watching you play it a couple times. i tried out splatlings, and found i absolutely loved them for the pressure i could dish out while also keeping myself in a safer position. i started playing wiper after getting a 3x qr hat and 2x qr boots, and found it so much fun to dive at the enemy, die then come right back and splat them. i tried out explosher(thanks again brian, lol) and it was really difficult at first, which put me off but i kept trying and i realised just how fun it is. i tried out blasters, and hated them, but that mean i knew i didnt like them. i even tried a little bit of chargers, but i dont have very good aim so i side lined it for now. it goes to show that not everything is good for you, or your playstyle and general approach to the game. trying new weapons, even ones youre not sure youll like is so good and so fun. i hated splatlings and exploshers for the longest time, but now that i use them i also know how to fight them better. so, whats this long comment for? its to say thank you, chara. thank you for this video, because i know i took it to heart and it made me not be so scared of trying out new weapons. because i know that without it, i wouldnt have touched any new weapon and id still be using those splat dualies. ive had so much fun playing so many different playstyles and weapons, and i know so much of my continued enjoyment of this silly little squid game is becase of this video. so thank you chara. truly. It's interesting to hear about the basic roles of weapons in the game as a low-mid tier player who doesn't really play shooters other than Splatoon. I'm not entirely sure which weapons fit which roles, but it's a good thing to keep in mind when experimenting with weapons. I'm recently getting back into Splatoon 3 after mostly skipping out on 2 (although I played a fair bit of 1 years ago), and I'm realizing that I'm just not really the best at playing frontline usually. I guess I'd say I'm more of a support player who focuses on turfing, although I also enjoy taking advantage of sniping spots with weapons like splatlings, so I guess I'm more inclined to be an anchor than a frontliner. I'm just not always reliable at killing or staying alive is the main thing.

Yeah this is really good advice. I used to play a lot of wasabi shot back in Splatoon 1 which fit me well cause of the splatbomb. I’ve been playing a lot of weapons since but I still wish something like wasabi would come back even if it’s kit wasn’t the best. Though you always have to try different weapons to know what fits you.

I played splat roller for the longest time because I loved being a slayer weapon, but I’ve been itching to try midline and support but still keep my mobility and I surprisingly got into the mini splatling! Its surprisingly long range, fast charge time, and four shot kill makes it a great painter, displacer, and versatile weapon. Just use LOTS of run speed buffs

I mained the splat roller and the Jr splatter shot in splatoom 2. Though i often saw people playing the dynamo roller and it really interested me. I was super nervous to try it as i was pretty scared of the slow weapons. Fast forward a couple of weeks and i started to main the dynamo, grim blaster and splattling. Once i opened my playstyle to a different, unusual weapon that went against my play style i really started to enjoy the game fully, and apprecate and admire those around me who main skill based weapons :)

I’ve been playing support (mostly because no one in soloq plays it… well…) It was super frustrating at first because I always seem to get funneled into the role in any game I play, but using either Jr for paint support or Rapid Pro for longer range threats is so fun and varied I don’t ever get sick of it

at first i used to play only short ranged shooters in splat2 and then just for fun picked up the hydra because it was so different from anything ive tried before that. (i tried chargers but i wasnt good at staying in the back yet) to my surprise i realized i was actually pretty good with it. i love it. its fun! it has its flaws but it can also really shine when you manage to get into the right positions. and then i started experimenting more! im not good with rollers but somehow the dynamo also worked for me. never thought I'd like those slow heavy weapons

I constantly switch between weapons, but I find I do the best with carbon rollers and splatanas. I like them because they are somewhat rapid, have decent damage, and ink pretty well. I use the carbon roller because I swim up to someone, and then squish them using the roller. I like the splatana because I can use its range to attack people even when they're trying to run. I feel kinda like I do best when fighting but also covering ground.

I'm a ballpoint splatling main, but I've been playing a lot of splash-o-matic recently, and it surprisingly makes me a better ballpoint player. It's helpful both to know the positions that backlines can't hit me at, and makes me better at the Ballpoint's short range mode.

Back when I first played Splatoon 2 (my first Splatoon game) I didn't know which weapon to pick. But I eventually tried out the dualies, and they just clicked. I've been using them ever since. They fit my playstyle, which is, as I call it, a "rush in and hope I don't die" playstyle.

In Splatoon1 I pretty much only played mid-close range shooters and late game, the original slosher. In 2 I picked up a coue more sloshers and some rollers but non of the other weapon types clicked for me. Now in three, I don't know what happened but I've been trying a little bit of everything and loving it. That applies to both different weapons and roles. I especially been loving the blaster, heavy/hydra splatlings, and eliter.

I tried picking up charger in 2 because I wanted to do cool trick shots, I ended up not liking it, and dropped it in favor of dapples. One day, I decide to play a game with the squiffer and then absolutely fell in love with it, and I already was decent at it due to the practice I got from the normal charger.
