I have a bronze mini and the action was super rough out of the box.. I nearly sent it back but didn’t feel like dealing with it so I took the thing apart to find a huge burr on the bolt carrier.. I removed this and beveled the ends of the carrier. It’s super smooth now. Also put a softer spring in. Removed from a random pen and trimmed down until I liked the feel. The spring is preference but I don’t feel Ike I should have had to fix the action on a $100 pen. This one definitely slipped past qc.
Oh I agree 100% -- a scratchy burr is absolutely the kind of thing they should have caught and fixed at HQ. But I'm glad you were able to fix it! From what I've experienced and also heard of their customer service, they'll always fix problems like that, but it should have just come correctly in the first place obviously. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes a lighter spring pressure!
Can these pocket clips be flipped? I’m left handed and I really want the ultem tactile turn. But since they don’t make it in lefty, I would like to know if it’s possible to move the clip
Unfortunately, no. On the slimmer designs that have a milled clip, they attach with screws, for which there are holes only on one wide. On the thicker variants with the bent metal clip, the clip sits in a small recess in the handle which is against only on one side. That said, the "handedness" of these bolt action pens is subjective -- the left handed folks I know mosy don't mind (and sometimes prefer) having the bolt on the opposite side and a push-away-to-activate motion. Similarly, I know some righties with the same preference who intentionally buy "lefty" pens. So I guess I suggest giving it a try (if you haven't already) and seeing how much the bolt location matters to you.
Thanks! This is one of the newer ones with the new mic! I quite like it so far. A lot better than the lavalier mic, and loads better than the camera audio.

In six months you'll have a pouch of fountain pens, won't ever use a ballpoint except to sign forms, and you'll be doing such detailed videos about ink chromatography and paper testing! Speaking as someone who's sitting next to a rack of nearly 50 ink samples, this slope is slipperryyyyyyyyy! But kinda fun too.
Hahaha, fountain pens is yet a further, more-entrenched line I've drawn in the sand well past the initial pens line. That's a sea I know I cannot swim in. The key is to just never experience a nice one up close. Can't let my brain know what it's missing! Ink chromatography and paper testing sounds so plausible, though. Long, long ago I nerded out really hard on paper, spurred by a couple different printing projects and also just a longstanding love of origami. I remember at one point my roommate came home and found me in the livingroom with ~30 different sheets of white paper sprawled out around me, examining their fiber structure under a magnifying glass and holding different pieces side-by-side to compare their color tone and reflectivity levels with a flash light. My roommate paused for only a few seconds before saying "No, this is about what I expected."
@@KnifeNerdery Lol I think I jinxed myself there… I mentioned the dangerous draw of fountain pens once you get into the analog writing world, and then in the last few weeks I’ve bought my first vintage pen in a decade, followed by my first modern gold nib. I don’t want to give the impression that it’s a delightful hobby though… it’s dreadful, steer clear. Hahaaaa omg, paper nerdery too! You already have such a high chromatography and paper testing midichlorian count! I do hope that potential remains untapped for the foreseeable future, because it does sound like forever would it dominate your destiny, but if you ever do venture into that world you’ll fit right in.
