Thank you for this video. You are so soothing to listen to during the demonstration & easy to follow. I always see these type of blankets on design home or apartment websites or HGTV. I know how to needle crochet but doing it with the fingers takes it to a whole new level. I can't wait to try it.
Thank you so much for this! I may or may not have made a whole queen size blanket after following your video! I also posted it on an adhd facebook craft group and have been sharing your link because it was SO helpful
I would love to say I have watched so many of these beginner videos and you are PERFECT! so easy to follow. I want to say more but I’m not good with words or typing! Thank you again!
Laura Allen Black and other dark color yarns make it a bit difficult to count stitches/chains. For most beginners, this leads to mistakes like: space skipping, unnecessary increases, and uneven edges.
Ieisha Andrews you are absolutely right!! I’m a beginner and I bought a darker colored yarn like a blue green color...I had a horrible time trying to see where the chains and stitches were lol
Thank you for sharing the techinque. I'm always afraid of this big chunky yarn, but after seeing your video and watching how easy it is to work, I will go and pick some up, this yarn always seems to be on clearance at walmart all the time too. :) oxooxo
I just finished my first blanket with that big, blue Walmart yarn similar to what she's using in the video. Took a dozen rolls but omg this thing is so warm and soft!
This is GREAT!! Thanks for sharing. However, if I may add, in my opinion it is a little difficult to see and closely pay attention since the yarn matches the background. Overall, great tutorial especially for me as a beginner. Thanks!! :-)
thank you for doing this video I have some bad arthritis that stopped my small crocheting projects this helps so much now I don't have to use the small needles any more. now my next problem is I ran out of yarn 😅 off to Walmart I go
been following a lot of your videos recently. i love how you make really cute projects, true to your taste in style. they don't look clunky or outdated lol
I am riding in the truck with my husband and have been trying to hand knit a chunky blanket leaving loops at the top, my space is limited and moving it from side to side on the bed, I have dropped stitches and it looks tacky. I am not a knitter, i bought 13 skeins of Main Stay Chenille at Walmart and its beautiful teal color, an ivory and soft silver.... not on sale but 35 yards and so soft and cuddly. Since I do know how to crochet, I will start my next s,kein of the fancy teal color in single crochet and remake the entire thing. With little movement knitting it by hand, it can literally come apart with one wrong move! I appreciate your video and I know enough on my own to use all 13 skeins of Chenille yarn to make an awesome blanket/throw that's large enough for me and my husband! Thank you for the inspiration! ~ Wanda T
Thank you for explaining the "loop" so simply, I'm a beginner, have hand/dexterity issues, can't use a hook due to lack of coordination in left hand. I'll try this, whenever I begin my project!
I've been crocheting for a number of years and am just getting into working with this size yarn. Most of my projects are using either a #1 fine or the crochet thread. I suspect this is going to be very bizarre at the beginning. Your explanation was amazing, it's the first one that popped up and frankly I don't think I'll need to look at any more. How easy are these to wash? I've seen the labels on the chunky ones that state hand wash cold-lay flat. I'm wondering how difficult that would be.
I noticed that you didn't flip it for the 2nd row after the first chains . With my regular crochet, I usually flipped after my beginning chains. Maybe this was wring for me to do. But the way you did it looks so much nicer and easier. I just wanted to make sure that i understood ( saw) that correctly. Mine was so uneven and looked a mess when i flipped too soon. Make sense?
Thank you so much! I love this video! First time making a blanket and your video is the best! You took the time to explain step by step on what you did! Thank you!
For those of with furry children, I think this could make an adorable little basket bed for a kitty or little dog if you change the stitch pattern a bit :)
Good morning Dana B What size is that blanket and what amount of planting did you use to make it ? Thank you very much for sharing and it was beautiful .
Awesome tutorial. Thanks. Have you tried doing a triple crochet or double crochet stitch to make a chunky blanket? Wondering if that would work out or not.
Okay so I have like the exact same yarn but mines from the dollar store but it was like 2 bucks a roll so imma need more but so chunky and pretty that that’s my place now
im worried crocheting dulls the mind because this is the 2nd tutorial on this where the creator either doesn't really want other people to learn how they do it or they leave out information that the audience wants to know to get started. They use white yarn with a white rug background with similar texture, they forget how it felt to be learning it for the first time, why make it more challenging than it has to be?
Thank you for this tutorial. I love how you keep it simple without a bunch of extra talking. It finally clicked for me. BUT you didn’t show us how to end it. And when I start a new skein of yarn. Is there a trick or do you just tie a knot?
@Marie Osborn I saw another video where the lady made a big chunky throw, she would hand sew the end of 1 skein to the beginning of a new one, not overlapping but sewing it so it looks like 1 giant looooooong yarn. Lisette Bencomo is the gal that did the video, her video is super simple and easy to understand...its a pink and white blanket.
Great video! I learned a lot. But has anyone ever told you you sound just like Alexis from Schitt's Creek?! I can't unhear it so now the whole time I'm picturing Alexis giving the demo 😂😂😂
Can you pls make one were you start one and you finish the first row and start a new row and can you make it out of this pls DIVANTE Vanilla giant❤ soft touch
Hi there I also want to make this but I am not sure how many yarns I have to buy for making blanket of 5 feet length and 3 ft width. Can you please suggest me
My thoughts exactly! The minute I saw the white yarn on the white rug I said NOPE I can do this. I knew I would not be able to follow her because it all blends together. I’m surprised that nobody else made this comment. I thought it would have been the first comment!
I started making one for the first time. I think I did it too tight or wrong. I’m 144 yards in and my blanket is only 17x68. I wanted to make it wide. But the yarn is not going quite as far as I expected at this point
I've crochet with an elephant toy once. Its trunk was kind of bent so I used it to crochet... It was very funny to everyone around me. I didn't have any needles so I needed somethin!🌸
I really do love how beautiful this came out and your voice and instructions were easy to understand and informative. If I could make just 1 little suggestion for your upcoming videos, could you use a different color background from the project itself? It's difficult to see the project seeing as it's the same color as the background. New subscriber & finger crochet beginner 🧶🪡🧶
I want to make a baby blanket for my grandson due in September! I want to do white You did very goid instruction Because I'm terrible at any of this! I'll be watching it again. Thanks!
The slip stich uses too much yarn for the same dimensions. It is a smaller stick so you will have to crochet more rows. I would use single crochet for a similar look and faster completion.
Dana B. I am having difficulty at the ends. Mine are curling, can't keep the ends straight 😦. I was doing well until I come to the end each time. How do I fix this please?
This might be late but it could be because you made the beginning chain too tight. I had that problem when I first started mine and I had to make it as loose as possible
crochet tutorials are so frustrating, it doesnt make any sense, i get the first row whatever, but then you just go onto the second one and it doesnt make any sense, not beginner friendly at all every tutorial is like this :c
