Try learning spin layups not 36os and stuff like that but like spinning the ball around like a windmill but facing the rim so just spin it around and then get the shot off
@@thereason7860 kinda like the defender is on your hips when you are driving. You plant your inside foot after that outside step so you do a one two stop. At the same time, you bring that inside hand to fake the layup and the defender will surely jump. When he does, you will use that inside foot to pivot and float it up. If the defender doesn’t jump, you can pass the ball easily since you’re stable or you can pump fake/step through
I've been playing ball for 20+ years and I've only grown 6 feet tall. Get use to floaters, off foot instant gather layups, and all types of acrobatic finishes if you really want to attack bigs at the cup. I was fortunate enough to become a lights out mid and long range shooter, so i don't have to get killed bumping into bigs at the hoop as much.
First one is overly complicated relative to its actual utility. Second one won't stop you getting blocked. Third one is good. Honestly the easiest way to finish over taller defenders is to bump off, then release, keeping your body between the ball and the big. Floaters are nice but they're hard to pull off often because most people drive at an angle to protect the ball.
Andrew Yil make sure to shield the ball, by keeping the ball tucked close to your body. You can drop your shoulder in to a defender, then create contact as you begin the jump to delay the defenders reaction and get to the basket
Develop an outside shot and quick release. Also, you can use a high pickup when doing a step back or a pull-up jump shot. A high pick-up will prevent him from swiping down at the ball or stripping you on the way up. This will allow you to get the ball above your head and over top the defender quickly. Think one motion shot with no wasted movement. You can use a shot fake hesi with this too because when your jump shot gets hot, they're going to be aggressively leaving the floor to contest.
Also if you have to drive on tall defenders use tight angles. Don't drive wide and always be ready to bump him in running stride. Tight driving angles and physically keeping him out of the play with your off arm, but not extending, but physically holding your position will prevent him from being able to recover and take long strides to block you.
Just got done playing 1v1 with a tall dude and i always got used to do the floater which is really predictable cause i do it all the time when driving to the basket and thank you for this coaches imma practice those moves
The key to finishing or getting your shot up over taller defenders is to not elevate over them, it's to either go up before they go up or go up and release the ball while they're on the way down. Timing is everything and initiating contact is a great way to do that, or if you can't give a bump then get to a spot that you shoot a high percentage from and quickly release the ball before he is able to jump.

I played someone is 6 foot 4 block me 5 inches I still got in layup in basketball and is so unfair advantage for height after I got this technique I was unstoppable against 6 foot 4 layup 5 inches I scored everything
Good advice when playing against someone not trying to block the ball. Some of these moves are good but if I’m 5’10 playing against someone 6’7, a lot of these moves aren’t gonna help.
I always do an up and under below the rim and it works every time. I show the ball with my right and once in the air I switch to my left hand and scope it with a layup. That’s just me though because I’m 5’9.
You actually can, lie on your bed get your ball (provided u have a high enough ceiling) and do a one hand shooting motion but upwards. Your goal should be that the ball lands in the same spot from where u shot it, this will help u straighten up your shot
Coach not really relevant to the video but I have a question on my shot. Whenever I shoot I always think of shooting with my index and middle finger and I also feel like I am doing so. But then in a video my friend shot, I saw that I actually use my index(last touch). The question is should I risk to change my mindset on thinking on my index or just leave my mindset to the 2finger release?
i barely know how to play basketball and i blocked every shot on my first practice game in school. i got hopes for the nba so just incase i wont get taller than 6'10, i gotta practice these layups too
