james harden step back is about timing too. by the time he's at his peak ball set, the defender is already falling down on the block attempt. meaning Harden lets the defender jump first to try to block his shot, his release is slower.

It’s been two years and this still is the best “how to score on bigs” video I’ve ever seen. They always say contact and veer step but they never actually put in good angles and teach us the little details that actually count. I don’t know about anybody else, but in my opinion, the nba camera angle doesn’t show shit. It shows a 3D game in a 2D perspective 🤦🏾‍♂️
@orenlevi4329
@orenlevi4329 3 года назад
forgive me if this is nitpicking, but I don't think NEVER getting blocked is something to aspire to. I found myself missing A LOT of layups just to avoid the possibility of getting blocked, as if a miss is somehow more honorable than a blocked shot. I see the reason to develop, but you have to make them earn it some of the time - and some of those some of those times they do. You have to develop counters, and making the defense life as hard as possible, but you can't be afraid of getting blocked to that extent.

This is very helpful since I’m very small and always get blocked consistently but I have a question. I have small hands so a lot of the time when I try to go wide with my layups I lose the ball do you have any tips on how to fix that?
@omgitslawlz
@omgitslawlz 2 года назад
Train your grip strength. Also Palm smaller basketballs and move your way up to a full size ball
@johnbricegriffin8404
@johnbricegriffin8404 2 года назад
and maybe try to swing the ball to put the momentum into your palm ... so if your swinging the ball out a little bit, place your hand where you swing the ball to sorta keep the momentum of the ball pushing toward your hand instead of away from it

by watching college basketball I can say that most of the layups are off 2 feet so I guess it works because you have more balance
