Iron Mike, you make it look so easy. i wish I had a quarter of the skill you have . I enjoy fly fishing so much more than with my spinning rod. I too used to kill them on salted minnows. It has been a real challenge to learn to fly fish in my 60s. Just a few years younger than you dad

Mike as always this was an incredible video. I've never turned my wrist and started jigging upstream in the middle of the drift .. But I've did that towards the end of the drift and had the same results using a Chartreuse Mop Fly as my point Fly .. Thanks a million for this video .. I can't wait to try this approach next time on the water.

It works great especially to convince fish out of structure and log jams. Keep in touch and thanks for watching! Mike

Crushed it Mike!! Excellent instruction along with some entertainment value. Love the Double Trouble! I just wish that I didn’t cut off the antenna so quickly. 🤦🏻‍♂️🎣

lol. Thank you so much for watching. I have noticed the fish don’t take time to count the antennas! All joking aside thanks for the support and best of luck to you!

I’m a proponent of that theory as well and I’ll leave them on if I lose one antenna but will take them out of play if they lose both. It’s been a consistent fish catcher for me though, especially the Golden variety! 💥🎣 Tight lines.

Good grief Mike! You are a fish catching machine! Were you using any split shot in the deeper holes? I am definitely going to try a Bugger, Nymph combo. Thanks again for all you do, as far as toting, and setting up camera, etc. You guys are the best!

Hey thanks for watching. Most of the time I try to not use any shot at all. That’s why I carry lots of size 10 double troubles on me. I like the weight of the fly. I will put a smaller fly off my tag. There has been times they are keyed in on smaller flies but I’m still typically fishing a size 10DT at the bottom of my rig. I’m so used to that weight and casting with it. There are a few instances I will use some shot but I feel more “connected” to what’s going on without any shot on my rig. I really hope this explanation makes sense to you. Thanks for watching and keep in touch. Mike

Hey Mike, great video! What mono line were you using! And was wondering what knot you us for your tag fly? This video was super informative! Thanks.

What a great stream and thanks for sharing your approach to it. What size tippet are you using?
@livelylegz4754
@livelylegz4754 6 месяцев назад
Thanks and I use 4x on both tag and tippet. Thinner diameter does not affect the “bite.” It may affect sink rate but if I hook a good one I want to land it if it takes me in an undercut, log, brush, etc. thanks for watching! Mike
