Some clips from a recent family vacation! If you want to learn how to fish off the bank around any of the Hawaiian islands this is the video for you! Throw chunks of meat close to the rocks or throw some curly tail grubs out into the surf. With the right gear you will most likely catch a fish.

Thanks for posting! Going to Maui this November. I see online I need a license for fresh water fishing but seems unclear for shore ocean fishing. Could you tell me your experience if I need a license? Can I buy it online or does it need to be in person. Thanks for any help

On your main line put an egg lead then put a two way swivel if your using grub put a long hook like if your using bait then use small hook like buy that

@@glen1965 I’m coming to Wailea summer 2022! First time since 2008 when I was only 8 years old. Now that I’m in my twenties I’ll be able to take in and appreciate the experience much more! I look forward to meeting you Glen and learning! I’m from Texas so I’ve bass fished my whole life. My dad has a bass boat and my brother in law gives guides on his boat for striped bass. I’m excited for my first experience saltwater fishing!! 🐠

@@kylesmith9048 Awesome. Go and look for a good travel rod. A salmon steelhead 8.5-9.5’ m or mh would be a perfect set up for Maui. Pair that with a 4000 size reel, filled with 12# mono or 20# braid. Bring your Tackle if you want and if you stop by my shop, we can look over it and see if needs refining. See you next year.

In this video the GoPro clips are from Kehei! But these techniques will work literally anywhere on the island, or anywhere where there are reef fish hanging out. Just look for somewhere with rocks in the water, which will indicate the presence of reef fish. There are SO many beaches and access points all over Maui and the other islands. The amount of places you can fish are pretty much infinite.

I did fish laperouse bay for a day or two! There are fish to be caught anywhere on the island

Some of them yes, others no! Make sure you google and check the regs for the reef fish before you eat them! Definitely be super conservation minded to make sure we keep the fish population healthy!
