I just put a little bend in the wire instead of a full loop and its easier to bend take the weight off and the wire will never break... Your channel is the most educational around . Great tips mike we appreciate you brother. God Bless

If you get snagged at least the rig will still be on if the knot is good, for reason I do the same thing you mentioned .

I originally had built my rigs with metal and glass beads but removed them because I didn't want the bass focused on those instead of the bait above it.

I've even put a tiny glass bead in between for even more noise in very coloured water.

@@mikeiaconellifishing Thanks Ike! The Brazos River is really high in Waco, TX, after all these thunderstorms. The bass have hit the Long Zoom Ol' Monster ribbon tail a couple of times. Saw the biggest water moccasin of my life on Monday at sunset.

Tokyo rig vs Texas rig? @flukemaster points out that with the Tokyo rig you loose sensitivity, given that the line is not directly connected to the lure. Hence Texas rig is superior. Thoughts?

A glass bead on a Texas or Tokyo rig works well

One beef with the Tokyo rig. If you gut hook a fish, and you want to save the fish, you will need to break apart the rig. Since the VMC Tokyo rig ring is welded, you will have to cut it apart to be able to take out the hook properly our of the fish's gut. Hence you will need some strong pliers, and you will loose the rig. This is not a problem with a Texas rig. If you use non-VMC hardware, you might have a ring that you can wrk with, but you will still need plyers to take the rig apart, before you attempt to take the hook out of the fishes mouth.

Would not a carolina rig do the same job. ? Maybe better becouse with a floating worm or other bait thats float the bait will come up higher from the grass and dont snag.
