The groove in the float is tto put your line in then push the peg in and it holds the line in place.

This is a Great video, you have a few others like it, do you think you could throw together a "handlining 101" playlist or like... Maybe a playlist of your gearlists through the ages? That's sorta similar. It can be difficult to navigate long lists of videos and figure out which ones are nice fishing videos and which are more instructional like this. Edit: thank you again, this video is really easy to follow as a beginner.

You ever think about using circle hooks? I use small size 6 and 8 circle hooks. I also have 4s and 2s but I’m just asking if you ever use them.
