I often put the bike crank at bottom with sponge to protect the chainring from damages. I also took a big plastic bag, then cover the drivetrain side to avoid it from hitting the car cushion and others
Does anyone remember the k car from the 1980s ? Tip: make thongs from discarded inner tubes. They don't scratch and they stretch so they stay tight. Also good for extra support for bike luggage. Hey, I should make a video!
Okay I think that's great - but if you had a fork mount screwed to the floor, you could put them in right side up and they would stay put. I need to keep mine upright because of the panniers and all. Hope to see more of your channel! それは小さな車です!
you should make sure all loose items (lke the wheels) are well secured as otherwise they will propel forward if you need suddenly need to break or your car gets hit from behind by another car.
My former car was a Kia Rio and I can also load 2 bikes because it also has folding backseats. That's the purpose and advantage of having that kind of car.
Nice job in fitting both bikes in your car. Enjoyed this video at the end of your trip! I also have stored my bike in the trunk and taking off both wheels. It takes more time but feel more secure - especially in case of rain.
Cruise that was an awesome video, that little car is so cool, picked up a few tips for my bike transportation now, you did say i would enjoy this video on my last comment and you were right, take care and keep the great content coming :)
Kei cars are such a cool thing :D While this might be an absolute heresy in road bikes world, but maybe look into getting a drop post for easy and consistent saddle height adjustment?
I would have considered a hi-jet or carry if you're carrying the bikes a lot. Love those k-cars especially the n-cube, amazing how much space inside despite the small footprint!
I usually use cardboard for cushion, it works great to put between wheels too. Glove latex and brake cleaner alcohol base for degreaser is helpful to keep it clean. Also some QR chain keeper is nice to keep the chain straight, but it's a little bit a hassle .
Wheel bags area really tidy and secure, not that expensive as a bike bag. Also if you would upgrade to disc wheels, you would only need to undo the releases! :)
Great way to fit 2 adult size bike s into such a tiny car :)) I'm not comfortable taking the rear wheels out as I might mess up the chains & gear. "Good job!"- just as your wife always says ;))
Nice job fitting in the bikes. I normally put my wheels in wheel bags to protect them. Maybe an option that could work for you? Also I've switched to Squirt (a wax chain lube) instead of oil on my road bike because I go tired of the black greasy mess. It's been two months and chain is much cleaner now. Worth thinking about. One more thing... I saw at Mont Bell & some japanese bike shops cloth bags that you can put your bike in and carry from your shoulder and maybe not so expensive. Could be great option for in your car to keep everything clean and scratch free 👍
Love Thuong's camera work when that woman came back with her pup. Completely lost focus on your work and focused on the doggo. Only recommendation I'd add is an extra couple of towels/blankets for frame's/wheels. Otherwise it's a great solution for the size of car you have.
Fitting my roadbike in my car is always a trouble for me. I hate to 'disengage' & put back on my front wheel because im not good at it, its always a huss & fuss for me, its time consuming, but i had no choice. lol. Have a good day u two!
Impressed that you managed to fit those bikes inside the K-car! There's a pretty long and nice stretch along the coast from Fuji-shi to Numazu-shi in Shizuoka. Think it's about 20km one way. It's a shared path but very wide, many cyclists as well. You could also do the path along the Kanogawa at Izu. Oh, and the Nishi Izu Skyline was a great ride too - about a 900m climb, with gorgeous views at the top. Missing those bike rides much.
I don’t use a roof rack for a different reason. A lot of car parks in my country are underground and are too low. A couple of friends have forcibly removed their bikes when they forgot they were on the roof! Fortunately the bikes survived with very little damage. The roof racks were destroyed.
Chris Williams Switzerland 🇨🇭 and yes same problem with drive throughs. It took me so long to get my dream bike, i‘d be really upset to knock it off the roof! 😂
Good video. Packing bikes is a necessary hassle. On a different note, do you know how Shimano groupsets got their names? Dura Ace, Ultegra, etc. Do they mean something in Japanese or is it the nearest approximation in Japanese to English words? It would be very interesting if you were able to explain how they got their names?
My first car was bigger than Suzuki-chan (XD) so I could get the whole road bike in there with the seats folded without taking the wheels off. But then my second car was the Smart ForTwo so I was only able to put my Brompton in that one. But it was so fun to be able to go to a bike friendly place and just ride. Seeing as I’m no longer a car owner as of a week ago, I’m thinking now to do an e-bike trip starting from home and heading out into the countryside for a few days. At some point when it feels safe anyway.
My first car was an F150 truck and I just threw my MTB in the back 😂 I've actually been thinking to sell suzuki-chan lately since we rarely use her and bike most places anyway.
Two Wheel Cruise I’m glad I have a licence so I have the option to rent a car if I want to. But ownership doesn’t feel worth it any more. And it means you can get the right sized car for that particular use.
Two Wheel Cruise I would use it right now to go to places you want to go and ride so you don’t have to use the train. And then once you’re working you could get rid of it if you can bike commute. And then in future public transport or car rental will be more appealing for bike trips once the virus is hopefully gone.
Hi Cruise san Have you ever streamed about bring road bike to oversea like Vietnam, Taiwan or other country? If you have video, I want to know as reference because I also consider when I go back to Thailand, I will plan to bring my road bike to Thailand. So if you know, please kindly tell me. Thank you very much!!!
I bet you wished you had pick-up over there? Thinking about can you even buy one there, I see Toyota and Nissan make some awesome truck for the us market but do the make for the domestic scene or are the roads so narrow you would be crazy even try driving one around?
I was watching one of your old videos and saw a prefectures jersey but can’t find any online dose anyone know where I can find some or just any Japanese inspired jerseys thanks
@@TwoWheelCruise I do something similar. I take wheels and seatpost out put them in trunk. The frameset goes in the back wrapped in a king size sheet. It's not elegant but it works and I've done it for years with rental cars.
@@TwoWheelCruise is it possible for you guys to pay a visit to shimano company and present the inside of the productions, I am sure Shimano would not mind especially if you present their stuff, what do you think?
I'm an avid biker, but I frequently find 'bike culture' so weird; what's wrong with getting a little grease on you?? It doesn't happen often, but if it does, I just consider it part of getting close to the machine, which is good with me - it's a form of bonding, lol. a badge of courage, even!
Hi from Hamamatsu. Kuriga-take in Shizuoka has nice view of mt.Fuji and the ocean with huge tea plantation around. crazy steep crime waits before top of the mountain but many cyclists go up there for the view. goo.gl/maps/3ssuLuYmx5XWQe2y9 (Actually winter is the best season because air is crystal clear and mf.Fuji will be covered with snow.)
@@TwoWheelCruise hasn't happened so far on my mtn bike that has disks..though have had that with my road bike that has rim breaks...granted heard rubbing prior to ever removing tire lol
