I bought one of these cheap speedo/tacho gauges for my Ducati but found the programming instructions absolutely useless!
Very poor translation and a bit confusing so I made this video to assist anyone else trying to fit one of these. SETUP INSTRUCTIONS ARE AT 24:00 IN THE VIDEO.
I go through how I actually fitted it to my bike, some wiring changes, some issues and also how to program the speedo, changing it to MPH, setting up the RPM and fuel gauge.
Additional information from viewer Torso in Finland: The 00466 in the programming relates to the wheel size in mm (for correct speed reading) so standard setting the speedo comes with is for an 18" wheel.
Would also be dependent on the speedo gearbox ratio of the bike.

Thank you very much for this video!!! My speedo didn't have any instructions with it when I buy it. By the way I found out that the first shown 00466 is a wheel outer diameter in millimeters. You can calibrate the speedo by changing that number. Best wishes to you from Finland!

Thank you so much for this video~ it’s the most detailed and helpful on I can find on the internet. I’m still having issues with getting the tach to work with my Honda Ruckus (which is a single-cylinder 4 stroke engine). Thanks to your video I’m able to get into the programming option. I tried setting it to both 2 and 4 cylinder and it doesn’t work. I splice the red/black wire into the coil wire (black/yellow) going into my ECU and still no tach reading.

Honda Ruckus has CDI ignition and I think you have to connect the tacho input to the pulsar (blue/yellow) wire, from what I have read there should be a 'service check' connector under the battery box which connects directly to the pulsar wire, might be possible to pick up the blue/yellow connection there. Or you could try wrapping a wire around the HT lead and use that for tacho input. Let me know how it goes.

There seems to be no setting for a single cylinder. Try setting as a 2 cylinder and see if RPM looks correct, worst case it will show double the RPM. A lot depends on what signal your OEM ECU sends out.

Yes, speedo read correct with one of those flashing 30mph signs and tacho appears correct too.

Do you need a special speedo cable nut? Also how did you fix the high tachometer reading

Standard speedo cable nut fits, mine looks odd because I had to use an extender as the OEM Ducati cable was too short. High tacho reading fixed, as I said in the video, by changing setting from 2 to 4 cylinder, sounds strange that this works as the Ducati is a twin but its just down to the ECU signal that Ducati uses.

So I can enter program mode but I'm trying to change kph to mph which if I'm correct is 1002 code but how do you set it iv tried long pressing/ short pressing still won't set any ideas dude I know you've done it

Hi, see setup instructions at 24:00, long press displays 1-001 or 1-002 (depending on current setting) 1 or 2 at the end should be flashing... Short press will toggle between 1 and 2. Long press again to save. Remember you have to go through the complete setup start to finish or changes may not be saved. Hope this helps.

Varies, depends on what motorcycle you have. Either trace back the wire from your existing tacho or find a wiring diagram for your bike/model/year.

Mine doesn’t enter the program mode when holding and switching on, just runs through the normal start up cycle. Any ideas? Ps, I have only wired up the switched live and ground for power. Not wired in the revs or fuel (don’t have a fuel switch).

Make sure you are holding in button (and keep holding) before switching on, should only go into start up cycle if button is not depressed. Is your polarity correct? I rewired mine because the unit comes with black wire for positive and green wire for negative which is a bit confusing! Not sure if having the rpm and fuel wires connected or not would make any difference.

@@InTheShedUK Thanks, I sent the speedo back as even though it looks exactly the same, clearly it wasn’t. I managed to find one that is the same and it went straight into the setting mode following your instructions. Thanks for the assistance and advice.

I don't have much experience of 50cc scooters, you will need a wiring diagram for your scooter and try to work it out.

Yes, cable driven speedo/odometer. Tacho is electronic, pickup from coil.

My fuel gauge read backwards..it says its empty when its full and full when empty ...any way i can fix that?

Most motorcycle fuel sender units use a rheostat (variable resistor), some go from high to low resistance, other from low to high resistance. A common motorcycle sender would go from 0-100 ohm. It sounds like your sender is opposite to what the gauge is expecting. I have not been able to find any technical data for these gauges so don't know what this might be. You may need to do some investigation with a multi-meter, it may be possible to swap the wires on the sender (unless it is earthed through the unit) or find a compatible (opposite resistance) sender. There are only 2 fuel sender settings for the gauge, either 2 wire or 3 wire, see instructions at 24:00, try changing this setting first. Good luck!

I'm have trouble getting into programed mode plus rev counter won't work do you have to go into setting to get it working

Rev counter should work straight away but may need changing to correct mode (2/4 cyl) in settings. Press and hold button while turning on ignition to get into settings.

I've try and it won't let me but it will change colour and kph to mph but to start with it come up say 60 in large and goes up to 150 do you no what that could be this is the first thing then mph

@@user-wn1jp4vx9b first thing it should display in program mode is 'P0000' or similar, anything else and your not in program mode. You do not need to be in program mode to change colour. Check your wiring connections again, doesn't sound like it is working correctly, go to 21:14 in the video for what you should see at switch on.

@@user-wn1jp4vx9bLexmoto? Sinnis? or something else? I guess you have cdi ignition? usually yellow or yellow/black is coil feed on cdi. May not even be possible if it's AC cdi

All the settings that can be changed are listed in the instructions in the video at 23:46, you do have to go through the complete programming from start to finish. Not sure what you mean by KMS... if you mean odometer reading I don't think you can.
