Amazing technique. But I would like to warn fellow riders about the costly issues I've encountered over the years using soapy water. Moisture trapped between tyre and (steel rims on atv, tractors and cars ) rims. This moisture has nowhere to go slowly corroding the rim. I strongly recomend rubber grease, it makes everything even easier and when comes replacement time, the tyre comes off like a charm😊. Ride safe everyone

That certainly worked! I’ve always found getting them off is much more difficult than putting them on. Purchased a decent bead-breaker for this purpose. The CO2 cartridges in repair kits usually dump enough air in to seal the bead if you use 2. Also - be careful with your brake rotors as they’re easily bent. Don’t ask me how I know. Great job! 👍🏻

Getting old ones off can be a real hassle. Like just removed one worn front tire from custom that was it like 10 years old, anyway first time I've noticed dry rot on sidewall of motorcycle tire. setting the bead is even easier .. wrap a ratchet strap around the center line of the tire & ratchet it up tight .. as it pulls in the tire & beads expand out to sit against the rim lip neat to pressure up.. a little crc556 helps slip bead over rim.. NEVER use soapy water it leaves water in the tire which causes excess heat expansion & pressure variances .. and isnt that great as a rubber lubricant .. 556 is absorbed by the rubber & evaporates in short time to create a firm dry fit & tire bead won't slip on the rim in operation even at very low pressures

@charlestannehill7537
@charlestannehill7537 Год назад
@@Cupat1 wrong. First, remove wheel and deflate tire. While holding shrader valve open, squeeze a little more air out by pressing your weight on it and while air is being forced out with your body weight for a couple seconds, let the valve close while in deflation. After that, due to negative pressure inside the tire, you can easily turn the wheel sideways and use your foot to work your way around the tire until the bead unseats. Then use the zip ties to compress and slip off. Then follow the method this guy posted. I've known this hack for about 10 years now. But tire spoons are quicker on cheap old beat up mopeds. Fitting a tubeless tyre without scratching the rim is easy, the levers only need to go inside the tyre/rim. It's taking them off is when the rim is in danger of getting scratched, because you have to lever against the outside of the rim to get the final bead off. This hack looks more useful for fitting tubed tyres as it removes the risk of pinching the tube when fitting.

Yes. I like it but the tie-wraps can't possibly increase the tyre's wire-reinforced bead diameter. What they do is to ease the job of getting the beads into the well of the rim so the beads on the opposite side just slip over the rim. That's been the recommended methodology for the past 90+ years. Getting both beads into the well together also halves the time taken though you take extra time to add and then remove the tie-wraps. Pretty good idea though.

Very interesting improvisation when no workshop is available. I would reconsider just one thing. Salt water on an aluminum rim is rather suboptimal. I don't want any additional corrosion from salt on a rim in particular. Vaseline or Ballistol is certainly even better and is not as corrosive. When changing tires in the workshop, they also use tire grease to get the tire onto the rim. Otherwise, this is an ingeniously simple way to change a flat tire on the go. I'll keep that technique in mind for emergencies. BTW: That's a great background noise. A murmuring brook? Or is it raining right now? Anyway, it sounds very reassuring.

Using string is probably cheaper...but it's looking a real good trick. Is it any chance it works also for tire removal?

Great video, thanks! Perhaps with the money you’ve saved on the tyre fitting, you can buy yourself a small compressor then, you can inflate the tyres yourself, completing the job?
