Even though I already know the techniques of mousse removal/installation, your presentation of facts and skills are the best - bar none. Thanks for the content Rich.
Just changed my front tire with a bib for the first time. I’ve been running tubliss for years for ease of tire installation. Mounting up my new vx40 with these tips made it super simple! Easier then tubliss I think!!! Thanks Rich! Now to test this tire
Just did front and rear on my beta today! I gotta get a tire changing stand! I did it the old fashion way. Patience and a lot of bead buddy’s and tire irons! 💪🏼
I have a Rabaconda. All my bros switched to mousses so I get lots of practice. I just recently started using double rim locks and you just taught me a better way for getting the tire off with the iron on the rim lock. Thanks man! 🇺🇸👍
Great tips! You sound like the Bob Ross of mousses. I was visiting Lance and Lisa at the Tulsa emdurocross last fall and got to watch about 3 of you guys cramming the biggest mousse on earth into a tire. Impressive
The first time I changed my tires over, I stopped speaking English after 10 minutes, you make it flow, helps with the right tools too!!! Nice Video Reference!!! Thanks!
Love how beat the rim is. It’s a tool and a toy, not a trophy. That tire changing stand looks awesome. I run tubliss but have been recommended mousses by multiple people. Changing a mousse has been a large part of my hesitancy in leaving tubliss behind.
Nice tip with the cheap auto lube. I just use a simple stand and several small straps to hold the tire close to the rim on install. I also use a small hand clamp to keep the rim locks pushed in. Takes a little more time for setup but almost no effort with no rim scratches.
Nice to see some attention being brought to the lube. There are various brands of sil-glyde that work great or any silicone grease as well. These things can be bought in small tubs that last a long time. Go for a 5 mile ride on pavement with silicone grease vs the tire soap a lot of guys run and there is a really noticeable difference in temperature of the wheel. Heat kills mousses
Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would still use pneumatic tubes. I've been running mousse's for a while now and love the security of never flatting. I still fight them on install now and then so thanks for the tips that should make it easier.
I've been using the Moose tire machine but like the Zip Tie shown here better as it is a bit taller and had some nice features. I welded on a small bracket onto my moose for pushing in bead stems long ago but again the zip tie machine even made it simpler. Nice vid again Rich. Now start racing would ya!!??
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Ya I get it. But you still got it in ya, I know it!! Just cause your in your 30's? doesn't mean anything. You still got it even if just for braggin rights.
For me I have nothing to gain. I’ve raced enough to know what I’m capable of. The people that support me can get way more out of my videos than my race results.
Red rubber grease works well also...............cross-country rally racing guys have lots of tips for getting mousses to last a long time due to the nature the racing being endurance focused
I purchased the Rabaconda...similar to your stand...and huge huge tip...watch their tutorial video (which is very similar to yours in terms of technique) and it will be easy to change a mousse.
I’ve always used the age old technique of running my gummy until it falls off the rim… Needless to say this video is one of my favorites on the channel now 🤘
My rear tire's bead isn't seated all the way. When i try to use air to get it to seat, then the air just keeps coming out of the part where tire bead is not fully seated. So what should I do?
Great video. What are you using for tire spoons. I’m looking to buy a set and I want to get something good that will work well and last a lifetime. Thanks, Mike
2 questions Can you write which stand/fixture you use and where to purchase? I did not understand what lube you used. Can you write it down here please. I need to find an equivalent in Europe.
I’m just having my first set of mousse installed on my bike and none of the locals I ask have heard of using 2 rim locks for mousse. But I’m not sure why cause it seems likely a mousse would throw a bead with no internal pressure.
Great demo Rich, mouses are the best and lubbing helps big. Question: should one run soft mouses with a gummy, and can a medium mousse accelerate wear in a gummy tire
@@offroad3607 450, never go over 55 mph and it's always 50-60 degrees F here. Feel my tires sometimes and they are never hot. Maybe I should try 1 out and see how it lasts.
can i ask i have 2holes in my rim one for halter and other for tube(valve) i need to mount 2 rim locks and dont need valve am i right? for mount mousse
Lets say for a kenda gauntlet 130/80 - 18, do i need a mousse same size 130/80-18, cause some ppl on use the mousse 120 in the tires 140 and 130... but i dont know why. what you recommend?
Yes a smaller mousse will give a softer feel. Usually one size down is just right for a worn in feel. Using the same size will be equivalent to 15 psi or so although it will last much longer.

Im new and am on day 4 trying to install/mount my first mouysse. Any lever I let go of flips out and the bead slides up. Every video I watch everyones levers stays in and holds the bead down in the rim trough or at least acts as a guide to let the bead slide down. My mousse just pops back up and out. As a matter of fact the whole mousse keeps climbing out of the rim I had to use hose clamps just to hold the mousse over the rim. Its like mousse is to big but its the size to use. 90/100 tire fatty 90/100 michelin mousse. I ordered 4 more bead buddies 😮…! Hoping they will help the bead slide down. I can send a picture of where Im stuck at if anyone wants to help me. Redondo Bch Ca
I’m with ya on that one. None of the mousse I have used go on as easily as in these videos. Correct size mousse and tire. And I’m using an IRC VE tire….
Yes if flats aren’t an issue for you tubes are great. Riding Endurocross and Hard enduro Tubes can’t handle the hard hits. They are no wear near as reliable as a mousses.
This video would have more credibility if you swore at least a couple of times when trying to set the rimlocks, or threw the wheel across the yard and into the street. Going to copy this method on my next tire change and see if I can get to your state of zen
