Best video I've found on doing this. The only part I'm missing is how the bottom of the carpet is finished. I've got a wooden floor at the bottom of the stairs
Great video lads - quick question… what about tucking the carpet under the nose of the stairs to give it a clean look… do you use the carpet bolster and pins to keep it in place?
Solid install I like what you do If I could add anything would only be to scrub it into tack strip on risers too. First step had a little bump in the centre. Could have been a high nail or a double pin in the tack strip or thick patch of latex back of the carpet. Anyway I think worth doing
@homeimprovements Who did you get to custom make your runner? Was it made from carpet used elsewhere in the house, i.e, maybe leftover from the landing? Did you have to cut it yourself and send it off? Lots of questions but embarking on project to install stairs runner to match the landing carpet.
Hi mate, great video ,sure it's safe only 5mm each side from grippers under carpet? Others are saying 5cm , I've prepared 5mm like your video , just on underlay now ... its the same stair set up so cannot see from the sides , 23inch wide , thanks in advance , top g
Hey where's your hand rail for the stairs? In the US code says you need to install a handrail....is that ok not to do in the UK? Thanks for posting this video!
@@homeimprovements The stair tread normally overlaps the riser ( protrudes out around half inch or so ) , I see a lot of stair carpets are tucked under that
In the UK they fit the way they do in the video, called waterfall method. In America they pin it under each and every nosing, called Hollywood style. You can do whichever you like as long as you have enough nosing to pin underneath. A lot of the time UK stairs have hardly any nosings compared to American stairs which is why Hollywood is less common.
Do you have to fit a stair runner from the top too bottom & then bottom to top? If the runner is long enough can’t you just fit it from the top all the way down?
Just out of curiosity do you guys come across much axminster or woven carpet over there. We get practically none here in New Zealand it's becoming a lost art to install.
What can I do if you can feel the Gipper's through the carpet on stairs it cut my daughters foot last week the company that laid it said they not helping me. Can you tell me what to do please. Thank you
Save messing with the tape measure on the stairs just get two pieces of stiff card and measure them at 100mm each then put them on each side of the stairs. Much easier 👍
Yh been back to jobs 5 years later still mint and the fact we received a roll of cosi 10 with a meter of cloud 9 attached to the end tells us everything we need to know 👍🏼
