You will need to start and shot off the car a lot. Jumper Box maybe RECOMMENDED. THIS APPLIES TO A LOT OF THE ACURA MODELS. ACURA IS AN AMAZING BRAND WITH GREAT PRODUCTS.
This is a video that helps you navigate fixing the common issue with ACURA(2007 RDX) models ignition key release mechanism. I have simplified video so that an idiot can get it done.
Move steering column out & down with electronic control
Remove 5 Screws using Phillips screw driver. They are found 2 facing drivers chest on the steering. The steering needs to be moved to the left and right to unscrew. 3 are under the steering column. All require Phillips
Carefully disassemble the steering column cover
With adjustment lever in open position or down
Remove white plastic cover with a flat head
White cover is hiding the key removal mechanism
Pick up ur all purpose lubricant and lubricate while turning the key on and off
Use flat head to move mechanism to the left if it gets stuck. Repeat and lubricate if it keeps getting stuck. HEAVY & GENEROUS LUBRICATION REQUIRED
TEST KEY DISENGAGEMENT AND REMOVAL BEFORE COUPLING BACK THE WHITE PLASTIC AND THE COVER PLASTIC AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN. BEFORE PLACING BACK WHITE PLASTIC COVER IN PLACE, KEY NEED TO BE IN THE ON POSITION. This allows the mechanism to move to the right or in a closed position so the WHITE COVER can fit
When putting the SCC(Steering Column Cover) back together be careful not to bend the lock tabs that hold it shot so there are no gaps when assembled. Take ur time doing this.
