To anyone skeptical about doing this I immediately bought synergy steering upgrade and their adjustable control arms for a 2012 Ram 3500 ST Dually 4x4 and I haven’t seen, heard or felt any signs of death wobble in 3 year’s!! People guarantee a lot of things, but I can honestly say this is GUARANTEED to fix any and all issues you may have with your front end.
I’ve had the 4th Gen T style steering on my 01 2500 for about 12 years now with no issues at all on 35 and 37” tires. I also have the steering box brace, rock solid ram bushing thing in the column, dual stabilizers, modified steering shaft and adjustable trac bar. I’ve never had the slightest hint of death wobble and no alignment problems.
wow super informative, just starting on my front end and I'm very much a novice. I appreciate the the presentation and explaination of each piece, will be reaching out to get the parts, thanks!
Have you ever rebuilt a track bar? Geno's garage sells the tools & kit to do so. I also talked to Redhead tech support & and they not only agree but sell the pitman arm brace that adds a bearing to the end of the shaft securing it from flexing. Some claim it must only be attached to the drivers side frame but they disproved that myth.
We have never seen very good longevity out of the OEM track bar rebuild kits. Also other benefits of complete replacements include the double shear mounting bracket and adjustability factor. We agree on the claim for a one sided brace. It was a specific company claiming that a one sided brace was superior, ironically they also sold said product.
I was just about to pull the trigger on the 4th Gen setup. That’s interesting you say it’s not the right setup and will cause issues. Now I’m back to the drawing board.
For some reason it's become the go to on the forums, but it's designed for a wider third gen axle, so you're forcing it into a place where it doesn't belong.
Thank you CJC and staff. I purchased the suggested Thuren track bar and Synergy T-Style steering linkage for my 2001.5 Ram 2500 H.O. I did have a few question when installing and the staff were very prompt and helpful. Amazingly didn’t find ball joints to be bad. After the alignment the steering is tight without play but still wonders a bit. I would like to replace control arms next. My Ram is unmolested just the way I want it. Original specs, no lift with no tire mods. My question is does Carli or Thuren make OEM length control arms?
Good tips, but I don't drive my 97 anymore 😂 How about a video on how to stop steering squeaks and creaks on a 2014? On first glance, I can't find any zerks.
when I first got my 99, truck was all over the road and a shop recommended 3rd gen steering. since then I've upgraded everything else, should I go back to 2nd gen y style??
We'd recommend the Synergy 2nd gen specific T style. You get the benefits of T steering, but with linkage designed for the geometry of your 2nd gen truck.
1998-1999 trucks that originally came with T-Style Steering (Where the tie rod connects to both knuckles) must use the pitman arm from 1994-1997 trucks, stamped TRW-246.
I just got a 97 1500 sport, I don't know what has been replaced on the truck if any has at all. It has over 260k miles on it runs healthy, trans is healthy but there is a play in the steering that I can't find the cause of. Its stiff when the trucks off, its stiff when the trucks on but not moving, but as soon as I go about 25-30 MPH, it starts to get loose but only when turning to the right. To go right, i have to turn the wheel about 1/4 turn before it will actually go right, if the wheels straight forward it will go left immediately. Does anyone know what could be causing it/ how to fix it?

We only offer the highest quality stuff that we would run on our personal trucks. There's lots of cheap track bars, ball joints and steering kits out there, but none last under these trucks.
@@CJCOffRoadthe only balljoints that last is EMF. Years ago I wasted money on Carli. EMF have way outlasted any Carli balljoints. My truck has 528k kms on it and sees a hard life with garbage Canadian "roads"and resource roads.
