Mate the car runs fines after been driven through deep water but the check engine light is on. And the hazard lights would turn on by itself. What should i do.? Ive disconnected the battery for now

Joel Hernandez that's what happened to this vehicle. I cranked out all the water for 2-3 minutes. Air filter was saturated with water. Let it air out for a day and make sure none of the computer modules are wet

the engine is most likely hydrolocked you will need to drain everything and check if the pistons are bent or not.

i would change the oil. but first just remove all water and spark plugs and see if it would crank over

ok, i made the mistake of remove the engine oil first. I was planning to crank it with new engine oil. while i didnt see any water in engine oil but i still removed it. I will place the new engine oil, remove spark plug and try to crank it. If it doesnt crank anything else you want me to check before i head to proper mechanic? if it cranks should i just clean the spark plugs and place it back? Lastly based on your exp. if a car is merge in fresh water and my wife tried to start it, will that means it will suck the water from exhaust if now how does the water go inside? i thought new engines are water proof etc. its 2015 model automatic, do i have to worry about transmission too?sorry for lot of questions. My insurance doesnt cover natural disaster :( my bad

no engines are water proof. when water gets in the combustion chamber things tend to bend and get damaged. so if it cranks over still might have a chance that something bent in the engine.

ImInnuendo same things here. my truck is throwing codes where an electronic throttle is going into failure safe mode so i’m getting electronics got damaged. my truck is giving me PCM error codes.

in my case i think it is because i tried to start it after the water damaged because i was unaware of the damage that caused to a hydrolocked engine.

If the engine wont turn over you might have a seized engine.

Your engine could be flooded but that doesn't mean that it's damaged.

Don't drive i had water stuck on the intake tank ( i believe that was there to catch water) clean your intake and throttle with an oil change and you should be good

Cristian Rufino when you say water was in the spark plug. Do you mean inside the cylinder

You have to make sure they're pregapped or you set them yourself.

Yea if the bcm, ecm , tcm ect get water in them. Yea they would need to get addressed. Luckily this vehicle had no water enter the vehicle so he was really lucky

Leslie Rennie well to get all the water out just remove all the spark plugs and deactivated the fuel pump and crank the engine over to remove all the water

Oz Mechanics ok I'll give that a go .last time I didn't turn fuel pump off. I could smell fuel after turning it over and brownish colour water came out .not a lot of water just piston 1 and 3 ,I think 2,4 where top dead centre when car was flooded?

If the cylinders were completely filled with water most likely something bent and the engine is most likely is seized

TinkeringTom you can disconnect the crank sensor

No I mean should I leave the fuel pump connected to get that compression to shoot the water out?? I was told to take fuel pump fuse out and crank but it's not working

I would recommend removing the fuel pump fuse. The compression on the cylinder by itself should push out the water

im sure the engine was shut off quickly.

John Sanchez yes remove all the spark plugs and make sure all the water is out the intake. And do replace the filter due to all the water that passed thru it

Hunter Azaola might still have some engine damage. Best thing to do is to remove all the water at first

Oz Mechanics Hi,yes motor is turning over had some water come out of plug holes .repeated this proses about 10 times .tried putting new plugs in still not firing.my guess is it's a connection fault ? I take your advice and get back to you.

+Oz Mechanics just did a OBD with scanner ,Came up with code P0026 said it was intake valve solenoid.I have a can of cleaner for electrical connections.Maybe just clean plugs and see what happens?
