Thank you so much. This was so easy. Our sink clogged after running the disposal and my husband was upset about having to wait for a plumber. I got onto youtube and found your super short and super easy to follow instructions and once I gathered up the light source, bucket, towel, and some gloves to use, it took me no time to clear out our clog. Husband was super impressed and couldn't believe I fixed it. Kept running the water for a really long time thinking it was going to fill up in the sink again. And bonus for me, I had no big gush of water, not even a trickle. Just pulled out the gunk and that was it.
This was really helpful. I've never done this before, but felt confident after watching the video and I was able to remove the clog (it was pretty gross.) Thanks!
Thank you. Following your advise, I was able to unclog the garbage disposal drain in less than 30 mins. Really appreciate how easy you made it to do by myself. Thanks again.
Christmas night! The worst time to clog the garbage disposal & drain pipe with potato peels, especially with ALL the dishes piling up! But I did it -- I fixed it myself quickly, thanks to your video, and now I feel like a Rockstar who saved Christmas. Thanks!
Thanks! I tried to use the disposal in 35 Shrimp shells. Bad idea. Thought I would be calling a plumber after trying to clear for quite awhile. Then I thought of you tube.. Your video was easy to understand and spot on. I fixed it in 10 minutes. Thank you so much.
These postings really help! I was going to hire a plumber for what turned out to be exactly what you described, only potato peals. I won't do that again. Didn't realize how small the opening is from disposal pipe to main. Thanks for very informative video!
You just saved our thanksgiving!!!! Thank you as we were in the early stages of preparing we had a huge clog. Tried all kinds of things , found your video and in 5 minutes it was fixed. Thank you !!!!!
Thank you! On the point! I'm glad I came across your video after having to waste a few minutes looking at a couple of other videos with misleading titles.
DUUUUDE! I am NOT any kind of a "DIY" person, but the sink got clogged and my spidey-sense said "clog" not "need a new disposal" so I got on line. And when you said "it sounds like a sea monster in there" I was like, YES! exactly! So I watched your video, took everything out from under the sink, and figured it out! THANK YOU!
This video was very helpful, it saved me from being killed from my mom... I thought I could just put beans down the drain everything would be perfectly fine buh apparently not lol... Buh thank you so much for this video, you're a life saver
Could this clog cause leaking into my basement? Too many potato peels clogged my disposal/pipes. I’d like to try unclogging myself but unsure if too much damage is done to where I’ll need a plumber. Suggestions?
Nope, as long as the water isn't running. The drain pipes have nothing to do with the water line, so you can leave it on. I left it on and then unclogged it and then cut the water on to make sure it was running through the pipe right. Of course put a bucket down if you do that though :)
I would probably take the trap and the rest of the drain apart just to make sure everything's clear so it doesn't clog farther down the pipes. If that happens you have to snake the drain.
When I turned on the garbage disposal, the water drained. But when not turn it on, the water won't drain. So it the garbage disposal got clogged? The water pipe is not clogged because when I turn it on, the water drained. If it is clogged then the water won't drain.
I think garbage disposers are a real pain to deal with. I'm glad I don't have a disposer in my kitchen sink because I think disposers clog up your sink!!!
Kevin Heade you might try purchasing a relatively inexpensive drain snake. Hand crank versions are available at your local hardware store for about 30 to 40 dollars. Usually about 25 feet long. Just poke it down the main drain hole and turn away. They self advance as you turn and will push through and/or pull out most bad clogs.
NEVER do what he did without rubber gloves...you can easily infect your hand/fingers, esp. if you have any tiny skin abrasions, esp. around your cuticles...
Your drain is absolutely *not* clear as you state at the end of this demonstration.. in the last few seconds of the video the sink was starting to fill up again. You didn’t undo the trap as I’m sure that was the main source of your clog.
