This is a very common issue on 2nd generation Toyota tundras. The door check fails and causes a clunk when opening the front door(s). Luckily they’re fairly easy to replace and only require basic hand tools. Part used in this video:
Thanks Corey. Just completed this. Great step by step video and detailed dissection of the parts. Doesn't need to be a fancy production video. It did the job. The Toyota dealer near me wanted $200 CDN for the check strap and another $200 for a mechanic to install it. Savage robbery. Saved me a lot of money with this DIY. Went with the similar strap off of Amazon. Will see how long it'll last. One thing that was different on mine, was when you unplug that electrical block from the window controls. Mine took more time to get out. But when putting it back in, there's a plastic inner latch inside the block that is in the way of it reconnecting. There's two parts to the block. There's a slider piece on the outside of the block that has to be slid all the way out/down for that inner latch to make a clear path in that one hole for that rejoining to happen. Just in case anyone else comes across this scenario. Other than that, all the pieces were the same. Cheers
