How to fix a garbage disposal that is humming but not spinning

Thank you the option worked my garbage disposal was making a humming noise and clogged with water overflowing I tried the allen wrench side to side couple of times then it worked thank you for the video straight to the point❤

If it's just humming - try the red reset button and/or the breaker first. Ours was tied into the range/stove.. Worked like a charm.

Not sure if you're still looking at comments, but I need help. My Mom didn't realize a rag fell down the disposal and now I can't get it out. I tried the Allen wrench thing and I can't even get it to turn so that thing must be really jammed in there. Any other suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't budge that rag.

The Allen wrench didn't work right away but after several tries it did. But after the disposal was unjammed, it made a strange noise then started leaking water out the bottom of the disposal.

Well what if I can’t unplug it?

Mine hums and doesnt spin but when i put the key down there it wont turn. I checked a million times and there’s nth inside it thats causing the jam. The key really won’t turn from below 😢
