11:32 I didn't expect that. The amount of dedication you put in your videos is insane. Even though I don't have a boat and I'm not planning getting one, I still enjoy every video of yours. Great job Chris!
Great repair job Chris! Boat = Break Out Another Thousand. LOL But the maintenance/repairs won't cost you too much because you do them yourself. Years ago I did plenty of work on a Chris Craft 292 Catalina.
Thanks a lot man and exactly. Having a mechanic do this would easily be $1000 for this simple repair. It’s tough bc the boat isn’t in my driveway so I need to be smart with what I bring.
@@chrisfished Definitely not easy when you don't have easy access to all your tools. Nothing worse than driving 20-30 minutes away and discovering you forgot or need another tool you have at home. Been there done that. LOL Keep up the great videos!
Very good video Chris! I'll just say it's reccomended to not use the fist few squeeze of the self mixing epoxy as if one component came out faster at fist you won't have the right ratio of epoxy
Good call! Luckily this is a 1:1 ratio so it should mix perfectly even from the start but it’s not worth the risk. For now on I’ll def be using your tip!
That “2 years later” part was so unexpected and increased my respect for this video and added a lot of credibility to what you did. I don’t even have a boat though 😁
How bizarre, Ive watched many Chris Fix vids and got the confidence to use K seal on my leaky head gasket, a year later its fine with no coolant/oil loss saving me a ton of effort to fix. Now I have a boat and need to plug some holes....
Only one so far. The bass are overwintering off the coast of North Carolina so we will have to wait for the fish to come back in the spring. And any fish that stayed in NJ to overwinter cannot be fished for legally until next month.
I'm not only impressed with the repair (and of course your instructional video) but I'm also impressed you kept the footage for 2 years in order to make this for us! I have had to do some minor repairs like this myself and never knew to do the bevels... great tips!
Between this and the head gasket repair....what else has already been completed and we're just sitting here waiting for the release?! (Great videos man)
I never realised the deep knowledge and skills you have with cars would translate into marine work. It's palpable you've got a logic and skillset that's transferable across multiple industries. Really impressive, Chris.
I will make a video for you. But for now think of it as underwater radar that points to the bottom. It shoots out sound waves and detects when the waves bounce off the bottom or a fish so you get depth and fish finding capabilities.
In my opinion, when making chips or dust a vacuum is in order. Too much micro plastic and crap in our environment. Otherwise thanks for the good video.
I watch your videos of things I will never ever do. Fill a whole in a boat I imagine is something that 90% of your viewers will never do, yet we watch anyway because you're the best. RU-vid is a magical thing .
@@chrisfished we have a lot of smaller issues. Changing from halogen to LED lights would be an awesome help for us. We don’t want to have to dump $20k into changing all of our lights.
At 2 ft of depth you're only going to have roughly 0.9PSI of water pressure on that hole. If what you've drilled it out to is 1/2" then the pressure on the plug is only about 1/2lb. Beveled edges are a bit of overkill...
Those close up shots, that explanation about bevel, you really put so much efforts into your videos! Absolute delight to watch your videos just like always ! :)
I couldn't believe you planned this for two years. You are an absolute legend! P.S.: when you make the video of the instalation of the new transducer, please explain what it is :)
I cannot believe this! I found out this 2nd channel of yours a week ago and I have a hole that I need to fix in my Boat and was looking for good videos.. *NO WAY dude* Thank you so much for this! Be safe.
AHHH! THERE YOU ARE. WTH, I dont get it, 2 years ago?? i have watched so many of your videos and liked them all, and RU-vid just decided to present this chanel to me. Algorithm???
3M says the 5200/5200FC is for below the waterline but...it's a sealant not a plug. Over here, once in a while waterjet rides (aka Waverunner or Jet Ski) get beaten enough to puncture a leak through the hull and they just stuff in fiberglass and resin and it works fine
This guy gives the best and most complete and accurate descriptions of how to do a job and how to do it properly. Are used to watch his works without automobiles, but this description on dealing with below waterline holes in a boat hole is excellent. He handles factors that most of the other videos on the same subject completely skip. He uses accurate words and grammar in all cases, making it difficult to misunderstand what he’s trying to get across. I’m subscribing.
Real ogs they already knew that the chris fish channel has been around for a very long time and they were subscribed from the very beginning when chris didn't upload videos to the channel
The outside of your boat looks like stucco. I've seen people use FlexSeal for these and I tell them all the time to not do that. And these are class B boats that go 50 miles offshore. That is insane to me that you are trusting your life to flexseal. But then I've seen people go overboard with rubber compound, fiberglass, and urethane foam, but they make it 20 times bigger than what they need.
Good question. It’s a sensor that produces noise to send signals to the bottom of the ocean to see how deep it is and if there are any fish. Almost like underwater radar. I’ll do a video on it.
