Hi Steve. Good idea on the palm sander! help alleviate the edge problem. I also primer / sealer / undercoat before applying spackle just to help seal the edges and plaster etc. Am teaching people to leave exhaust fan on for 1/2 after showering etc to really dry out the ceiling with air flow and while showering leave window open a little for exhaust fan to pull air from somewhere otherwise they don't work nearly as well. Just sharing some ideas I've found that work Cheers

Don't forget goggles and gloves and open nearby windows or use a fan! And...at the beginning, do not scrap when particles can fly into your eyes, nose and/or mouth! You could be scraping mold, which you may not notice or realize. Be safe.

Thank you for informative video. However I was wondering if it's OK to use paint remover - staff that you apply to the surface, it makes paint kind of soft and then remove it with scraper? That way all the mold would be completely removed.

Hi Minpher123, The product I prefer for killing mold is called Concrobium Mold Control. It works really well, it's non-toxic and it offers residual mold control action. I typically start with sanding a few of the moldy spots and scraping up the dust and then smoking them in a pipe to fully understand the mold I am working with.

Great Video Here I was going to cut out the square where the Mold was at the source, as I thought that was the proper and only way to do this. But I still need to install a Fan anyways but I can get rid of the mold for now. Thanks for the Video

You should always wet the mold first so you don't spread the spores. Sanding it dry is probably the worst possible way of getting rid of mold...lol

Great tutorial but you need to address why the mold got there or it will just return after your repair. In my case the warm air in the attic meets the cooler, sometimes damp air in the bathroom is what’s causing the mold near my hvl register. Rectifying that can be tricky. Good luck.
