That Delphi is gonna fail, there’s certain sensors for E39 and E46 etc that you just cannot cheap out on, a non BMW original camshaft sensor is one of them along with wheel speed sensors, crank shaft sensors among others. You’re gonna be sorry. I’ve had my 2000 E39 for 13 years if that tells you anything.

I for sure don't disagree. One note if you watch through the Delphi was the wrong part anyway. I ended up using a Carquest premium and it did indeed fix the CEL. Interestingly this sensor as I mentioned probably went bad due to oil leaking, but a note this touring wagon only has 37k miles and the OEM sensor failed. Also most manufacturers don't actually make the parts themselves, for example an 'OEM' part might be made by Bosch for BMW. However I agree in general 100% BMW OEM is best whenever possible and I do that 80+% of the time.
