Today we've got something special for you guys! A new content creator here on the BleepinJeep channel... Some of you might recognize Colt here as the guy who brought me the FC to Tennessee all the way from Utah. Since that time we have become buddies and you might have even seen him in the Colorado video from last week. He's an awesome down to earth guy and really knows his stuff as well. Check out his very first video right now on the tubes! And give him a follow on instagram @bleepincolt In this video I'll show you how to fix a radiator leak. A trick I saw in Car Craft in the '80's was to use a bicycle inner tube. Just make 1 cut and connect between the 2 radiator hose connections. I used a larger mountain bike size. You only need to pressurize up to 15-20psi to find a leak. No special tools, cheap and the inner tube has the valve already.

I searched all over utube and your the only one that explains how to repair, solder the tubes. Great job thanks. On my 1972 Ford Bronco the hood safely latch flipped over the catch and went into the radiator while shutting the hood.

I actually had a chance to try and fix a plastic capped radiator recently, it had frozen, but just expanded the top of the cap away from the aluminum core.(Toyota car) I was able to very carefully add some black rvt to the lip and then compress the crimp back into place with a large pair of channel locks. It worked!! Un fortunately the head gasket blew a few months later but it was very overheated already, when I got to it.

It was easy to find the radiator leak in my Burban, it was the spot where hot coolant was shooting out of 😅 I kept topping it off and drove carefully then eventually tried sealing it up temporarily with JB weld until I had a day off work to change it out. It was aluminum/plastic plus 20 years old so I just replaced it

Cool video, one suggestion. If you are going to use soapy water as a leak detector there is no reason to add water to the radiator while testing. The soapy solution needs the gas to cause it to bubble. You are potentially masking leaks with the water.
@Bleepincolt
@Bleepincolt 3 года назад
I only filled it half full and flipped it on both sides. I was just trying to eliminate having to pump air into a huge 4 core radiator for hours. But I should've explained that better. Thanks

One of my tubes were leaking on my old Dodge truck, as a temporary fix I cut the tube and ran some brake clean through it then pumped a bunch of silicone in the tube. 2 years later the temporary fix is still holding up with no leaks. I have another radiator to put in after I build some better mounts.
