Dude, you didn't have to do Any of that. Just some Jewelry cleaner or some Corrosion X will do the trick. Get in there with a Q-tip & a Toothpick. Use your finger to move the wheel back & forth while letting the Cleaner drip down inside a little bit at a time. When the scratching sound is Gone - You're Done.
thank you. I didn't realize it was dust and gunk in the pot. I had tried resoldering the wires to the pot, and changing the jacks, and it was still scratchy. I'll try changing the pot as you suggest. BTW in addition to the info on the pedal itself, your tutorial on soldering is great. It will save a lot of people a lot of terrible soldering attempts.
try spraying some corrosion x or some deoxit into the pot and then work the pot(turn it) plug your guitar in and enjoy... Deoxit will get the job done, corrosion x will work on any thing electronic and water resist it... Depending on the item...
This was a very helpful lesson! Which kind of solder do you use though? I'm a little confused as to the differences between lead-free and rosin core and which would be best for this kind of soldering. If you could give me any advice, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!
Thanks! I use lead free which is better for the environment but harder to solder. Lead solder melts at a lower temperature and is easier to use. Rosin makes the soldering work better and I would recommend rosin core. I usually use Kester Wire Solder, .031", Sn96.5 Ag3 Cu.5, #66/48 but its expensive if you don't need a lot. If you arent doing a lot of soldering, I would just get a basic rosin core solder and pick if you want leaded or not.
My Dallas Arbiter Wah Face pot gave up the ghost so I got a Casledyne pot for it I need to study this demo Not sure if I trust myself on a vintage piece I have a Colosound Wah/Swell that needs a new pot too but not sure what type it takes That 54 sounds killer
Doesn't really matter. I put it in place first so that something was holding it while I soldered. I usually burn my fingers if I try too much at once...
much easier to solder it not in place for sure , when i do mine i put the "cog" between the inductor and the wiring connector plug , that keeps it still while you wire the yellow and black, the blue is trickier because its shorter but , easy enough

I found this, maybe it will help: vox v845 wah pot removal. You would just need to find that pot, desolder it and then put a new one in. Hopefully this works for you!
nice video just a remark. I noticed it sounds much more "muddy" after the installation. I think this is due to how you mounted the pot. usually it is mounted the other way round: - push the pedal all way down (switch pushed as well) - move the pot just like the pedal was pushed all way down, and block it. - release it pots moves a little bit more then wah excursion, usually most of users prefer to move it a little bit higher in frequency
Thanks for the comment. There was only a bracket on one side of mine so could only mount it one way. I wonder what changed the tone... maybe I moved a mic or changed guitar pots? Usually I try to be pretty careful.
Hello, very good btw... im having a problem with a gcb95 crybaby and it stopped wah wahing, the sound that makes is a natural sound with no wah nor effect help anyone?
You could check a few things: 1) Maybe its the switch, does the sound change at all when you turn it on / off? 2) Are you sure its getting power and does the power supply work for another pedal? Probably not the problem or you would get no sound. 3) Is the gear moving when you rock the way, open it up and see if the pot turns. You'll probably need to take it in somewhere to fix it. Hi! I think there are two possibilities... one is if the pedal is just noisy. Do you have the problem when you are not rocking the wah back and forth. This would just be white noise and can be scratchy sounding. Probably not this, but if its the case, its the pedal. If the noise is when you rock your wah, its usually the pot. If you did put a brand new one in, you might have gotten a bad new one. What happens is that there is dust or particles inside that mess up the contacts and cause a scratchy sound.

Ofc I bought a brand new one but still I'm getting the same problem Any suggestions ?

you should be able to clean the pot with some Deoxit too.. i can't quite tell if these pots have a space for squirty deoxit in there.. but yea before you go soldering in new parts.. try this..

@@guybennett5266 If you guys are masters of English, why do Brits put an "R" or "UR" sound on every word that ends in a vowel? I'm here in "Americur" and people pronounce things differently and sometimes incorrectly, but don't get all high and mighty about the English language. It evolves like everything else. It's not "correct" either way. I hear Brits say "aluminium" instead of "aluminum" all the time too, and that's patently wrong no matter how you look at it. lmfao... Pot meet kettle...
Man if you find it hard to turn on your Crybaby/Wah pedal, don't destroy any parts off it in order to fix this, one can *adjust the height of the switch* by adding or taking off some of the washers that hold it in place/set up its height, so you can *adjust* how easily it turns on and off without destroying any parts off one´s pedal. Oh, and BTW, it may be just me, but I would have had those wire soldered before having that pot put in place so I won't have to worry about 'hard to reach' and melting things off. Rookie....first mistake is it's a Dunlop, second mistake you used the same crap linear taper pot style that was in there previously instead of an ICAR pot,, third mistake you raise and lower the switch for ease of on and off, not cut the rubber feet under the treadle...forth, it's a crap Dunlop. Crybaby.
