Thank you so much for creating and sharing this extremely helpful video! I truly appreciate you showing close up video of the interior area where the door became dislodged then showing a second close up video of the door correctly engaged on the track... and for clearly explaining everything in layman's terms! I now feel confident I can re-engage the shower door by myself.
One of our showers’ doors, both doors, are detached at the *bottom* where they should be attached and slide. Not sure what’s missing down there. I’m trying to figure it out. Basically the top slides fine and the doors do this swinging type motion because it’s detached at the bottom. It’s actually pretty dangerous. They come off pretty easily if you’re not careful. 😔
There must be a mechanism at the bottom. A bottom Guide. Sometimes like a bracket or a channel attached to the bottom of the doors. Take a detailed look at the threshold.
One of my shower screw which is attached to the roller has come out with it’s spring. The sliding door is now slightly detached. I have tried to put back the screw but it just springs straight out. I have checked and realised that there is also a metal clamp like thing where the screw is supposed to hold tight and it’s loose too. We tried pushing in the shower door while putting in the screw but as soon as you let go it’s out. Any idea of what to do
I have the same problem with the inside door off track, but I can’t get inside the shower because the door is stuck halfway across and I can’t fit through the opening. Plus the outside door can’t slide because the inside door is pressing against it, AND the top cap has come loose so when I try to lift the door the top cap pops up. Of course this all happens at 1 am last night when I go to take a shower before bed.
@@ExceptionalGlassLLC In my case the top cap had somehow twisted to the side and messed everything up. Once I tapped that back into place with a rubber mallet I could get the door back on the track. Now I'm trying to figure a way to keep that from happening again. Besides the cap sitting on the two vertical extrusions it was held in place with grout. Obviously that wasn't a long term solution. The house was built six years ago. i'm considering making a U bracket to put inside and screwed into the wall with the fingers holding the cap in place.
Thanks for your question. It's actually a very popular question. A sliding door "Rolls" on it's own because of one single reason. The Bar that the wheels roll on is not Level. You CAN compensate the roll with adjusting the wheels on the door, but it's very limited depending on the type of sliding shower door you have. Check with your installer OR manufacturer.
Last time I closed the door all the way and both doors got stuck and would not open and the glass eventually broke off......to the present day I never close it all the way
It's almost impossible without removing the doors. You can try to pull it away, but most likely it'll be molded in. If you do remove and get a replacement , spray with a lubricant ad slide on
My problem with doing this is that there is a plastic channel in the middle of the top rail. The only reason that one end of the door is off the rail is because the small bolt backed all the way out of the wheel over time. I’ve never seen a top rail on bypass shower doors with this plastic “middle guide”. Have you dealt with this before? Thx
Hi Zakk. I've seen this before. It's a chinese version of sliding doors that is no longer in use which most of sliders (off the shelf) are. Take the top rail off, replace the wheel and shoved the new door in place. I hope this helps.
@@ExceptionalGlassLLC What I was contending with here were two (to make up the full width of the top track) removable plastic safety retaining rails that were able to be extracted by just grabbing them with a pair of pliers and pulling them down. Thanks for responding!
if your glass doesn't have holes for the hangar, you must use an epoxy to hang the roller clamp on. This is usually done in factory, but with a little patience you can do it! Thanks for watching!
Take the doors out and see if all of the wheels are set the same. If not, reset them in the lowest position. If the door still slides, your header is not level. You can add a shim between the bottom of the header, on top of the jamb to plumb the header. Give it a shot. Thanks for watching!
I also need help with this. The bracket has three adjustment holes. I’ve tried every combination and there’s still a gap either at the top of the door or bottom when I close it since it’s not leveled properly. Any suggestions?
To repair bottom roller sliders, Gravity is key. There's usually adjustment behind cover plates on the rollers. Take the coverplates off, and usually you'll see allen key screws. adjust those screws to make the door go up and down. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the vid. I have the same glass door, same problem, but it appears that the metal clamps with the rollers up top are sliding off of the glass doors(gravity). Do you know what adhesive to use when re-clamping them?
Take the wheel over to your nearest home depot and use for reference. They usually have them in stock. It's either 3/4" or 7/8". DO NOT GET THE FLAT PROFILE WHEELS! Best of luck and thanks for watching!
