Always nice to see a vintage record changer serviced and put back into operation. One small correction. That is called an idler drive turntable, not direct drive.

LOL, I used to listen to DeGarmo & Key back in the day :) Good job getting the turntable working right again!

WOW is an audio analysis term, not a Chinese use of excitement. WOW is what the app measures

Its the other way around here I have the AT6 almost working perfect but the speed is too fast but I bought a speed regular to install inside. I put some modern phono sockets on and a power socket. I might add a Bluetooth board too for some fun.

I like the idea about adding bluetooth! Perhaps I can convince the Milbs to modify his rig 🤔

Hello mate. I have a Sony music centre, an HP488 model which works perfectly except for one very annoying fault. When you turn on the player and play a record it takes about 5 minutes to get up to the correct 33 speed, thereafter happily staying rock solid at 33. However if you turn it off and then use it agin within an hour it still plays at 33 rock solid. But if you leave it off for a whole evening or 5 hours and turn the player on again the motor again starts really slow for the first 5 minutes then, as before, speed up to the correct speed . Any idea what could be causing this annoying habit? We have degreased the motor and the spindle but are foxed as to why this issue continues even after degreasing. Thanks.

If it’s a British made machine and you are using it in the states then bear in mind that the motors used on these turntables is a squirrel cage synchronous motor and the speed will be affected by the mains frequency so in the U.K. we have 50Hz as our mains frequency but you have 60Hz in the US so in theory the turntable should run slightly faster.

A slow turntable or phonograph is unusual. Most are manufactured to run by default half to 1 rpm fast.

Why can’t Americans pronounce the word Garrard 🤔.
