Nice work! Pretty much what I was thinking of doing. I was just searching around on the web for someone with the same thought of repair. Tight lines! Be well! 🐟🐟🐟
This is possible the worst thing you can do. That section is now going to have 0 flex and going to snap again on any large fish. You’d be better off re tipping the end and just making it a shorter rod
@@S.AFishing410 if you break a tip the best way to repair it is get a new guide tip, and glue it to the end. Do not try to repair the rod it self because graphite and fiber glass does not repair. Look up “tip repair” and it’ll show you how to buy a tip kit and regular the tip. I wouldn’t repair a rod that lost anything more than 3” of tip. You can always cut the butt off a rod, but rods are built to bend from the tip back. The more tip you take off the more you ruin the design and action.
OK I couldn’t find a nail that was the right size but I did find an old drill bit. It did the trick fit just about perfect the epoxy took up the rest of the space.
My 3 y'old son playing with my jigging rod the other day..hit the ceiling fan and the tip of the rod just broke..been searching on how to fix it and found your video bro..thanks alot..my rod is pe 1-3 cant find any nail that fit but i tried with my wife sewing needle and it just snug in perfectly...haha..nice!..im waiting for epoxy and braid that i ordered online and we'll good to go..👍
I soak the fishing line into the epoxy. I do that with a nitrile glove, on which I put the epoxy between my thumb and index, and soak the braided line as I reel the line on the shalt of the rod. Also, if the tip is very small, I use a sewing needle instead of a nail.
Your video is 3 years in the past now, so I hope you see this. I've watched a few videos this morning of repairs and in each the ends of the rod are squared off using a hacksaw. Each time I watched the videos I wondered, doesn't the fiberglass tear at the last cut of the hacksaw? So, wouldn't taping the cut area prior to hacksawing prevent tear out?
