How to fix a stuck electric car seat 

Thank you thank you! I'm 67 years old and hubby can't help anymore...my seat in our van got seriously stuck as far front as it would go. Your video..I watched 3 times...I gotta say...it worked slick! Just like you said...I was thrilled. Less than 10 minutes and that included dragging a chair out to the van. 🤣...thank you!!!!

Thank you so much for posting this. I did what you said. I had wound the drivers seat fully forward to remove my back seat when it stuck at the full extent of its travel. I started winding it and it moved back which was a lifesaver then it came back to life in the switch so technically this fixed my problem.

Wish mine was that simple! With my luck, my 04 Camry needs a whole new motor! I'm a petite female, and can't reach the pedals, as it's stuck all the way back! Thanks for the vid!

Our electric car seat in our RV is swiveled in the backward facing position and now won't swivel back forward facing. It's because it's supposed to be fully lifted "up" before we turn it around but we had it only partially up when we turned it around, apparently a big no no. Now we can't get it to turn back around. Can't figure out how to unlock whatever has it locked in place the wrong direction.

I need to fix the power seat in my 98 olds bravada. Tries to move but can't. The side closest to the center console is jammed. Don't know if there is debris in the track or its just rusty

Hi, do you know if you can do a similar manual adjustment with a drill for when the top part of the seat is stuck in the forward position (recline is stuck in full forward position)? This happened on my 09 Grand Caravan in the same way (stowing the seat directly behind it). Thanks!

You rock bud.. My seat in the Silverado has seat memory as I programmed it it no longer went full back. I was going to pull the seat out manually move the seat to full travel back and leave it. Soon find out if I can do the same as you just did. Then after winter troubleshoot the thing all else works.

My 2005 Town and Country driver's seat suffered the same fate. The right side of the seat would not move. I slid the seat all the way forward and when I return the seat to the driving position the right side of the seat would not move. The motor that moves the seat forward and backward works fine. To solve the problem I took a pair of needle nose pliers and rotated the long gear on the right side of the chair. I am talking about the gear the motor is supposed to rotate through gear at the end of the shaft connected to the motor. A slight movement with the pliers freed the chair and now it moves as is should. This was a 15-second fix.

My 2008 town & country also has a .annual levee on the upper part of seat for reclining altho now the seat will not recline.

Thanks for the info . Does / Would this be able to move the seat ALL the way forward and backwards ,,, for use of the stow n' go seat behind the driver's seat ? ( You need the driver's seat ALL the way to the front to be able to flip the stow n' go seat up or down )

My seat sucks when I park the car again' start vehicle but the seat is not working then I disconnected and reconnected the supply of seat and seat working starts

So i'd have to always adjust the power seat this way!? Mine will a bit each way but not fully extend or retract.

While this is a good temporary fix, I would like to know how to actually fix the seat so it can be moved as the seat was originally designed to move. I don’t think Dodge envisioned a power drill must be used each time the seat is to be moved. Like @AGreaterAmerica said, this headline needs to be retitled.

How do I find the fuse for the power seats? I have a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country.

I have a 2007 Ford 500 and my seat the motor would let it go all the way back and now it's stuck there I'm only 5 foot and I cannot move my seat up. Social Security so cannot afford to take it into a mechanic my daughter said she would look at it would we would it be the same procedure and where would we get the tool she does have a drill.? Our 2005 Town and Country van has a driver seat with a dead electric motor/trac. It moves, but the nylon gears are stripped. It needs a new motor/trac Mopar 5179150AAADJUSTER-Power Seat which has been discontinued by Chrysler. There are no aftermarket replacements to my knowledge. Do any of you know of an aftermarket replacement part, or someone who is rebuilding these? Can I get a manual trac from a junk yard and install in this van? Thanks for your consideration.

I have the same knobs on the side of my driver's seat for my 2007 dodge grand caravan. The forward knob controls tilt of the entire seat and the most rearward knob controls the back rest angle. I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the entire seat backward and forward to allow room for the sto and go seat behind it. . Could you help. Thanks

Okay, here's the problem, the drivers seat was pushed up to clean under, there was a toy that jammed it. The toy was removed. The 'sound' still sounded, as the control was pressed to move the seat back. The seat wouldn't move. So, does anyone think it is 1. a rod underneath that may have been bent? 2. something else? or 3. the electric system. Yeah, I already said, the sound sounds for connection to move...just no movement. And everything else works. The car seat back goes back! - Auto place wants 800.00, they say to readjust the electric system!! ....I'll just drive with my knees against the dashboard! --- Sure would appreciate any advice.

This is great for permanently positioning the seat in 1 fixed position, but it doesn't "fix" the problem like your title says.
