This was getting so frustrating: reseating the console over and over, moving the HDMI cable around, hard restart. Turned out the power cable wasn't in all the way. I didn't think that mattered until I watched this video. Thanks!!
I dock my switch into my pc and it shows a green light on the Dock but nothing on obs and when I press the power button on my docked switch the green light on the switch goes off
dude you're a life saver. i decided to power up my switch after over 2 years of not using it and it wasnt working in dock mode. this video helped me fix it. the dock was really dusty so i whipped out my electric air duster and cleaned it out
Thank you this helped a lot! I cleaned every port with a toothbrush and it didn’t work. Then I did the same thing only this time using 70% isopropyl alcohol and it started working once again. Edit: After doing this I got the green flashing light of death, but at least it responded. I ended up having to take apart the doc and getting behind the circuit board. There’s a black and red wire attached to a white connector. While my dock was plugged into the wall and the HDMI plugged into the tv and my switch docked, I had to take out the connector, insert it back in only half way then take it out then insert it half in until I got the steady green light. Once I got the steady green light I plugged it fully in, played a few hours and hadn’t had a problem since.
Dude I’m at my cousins house right now, and he had an old switch and asked if I wanted it. He had bought a new switch because his didn’t work. The only problem with the old one is that it didn’t link to the TV, so after hard reset, it actually connected and we are going nuts. Thanks dude, your a legend.
"You have put together a wonderful troubleshooting video...I almost put my foot through the screen, changing wires etc...then I watched this video!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!! This granny can't say thanx enough...a heatwave...kids..and heaven forbid NO SWITCH!!!...ARGH!!!...my tribe also says TY!!!
I'm THE worst when it comes to technology! This video helped me hook the switch up to a TV for my boys! I know it's supposed to be "easy" but I didn't have a clue. I appreciate it so much!
Solution #9 was what worked for me. Who would of thought? I had to firmly press mine like twice and I heard a "pop!" probably dust etc... havent played switch in months. Liked
I have an issue myself and not sure how to approach it. I connected my Switch to the power and to the tv and at first the image appeared on the tv and the tv recognized the device as a Nintendo Switch. But all of a sudden the screen went black, and then it came back up, and then black again, and then back up. It is not the exact same pattern always either, the time the screen remains working/black varies every time
Could be that it’s not compatible with 4K TVs. Tried everything I can think of with my 4K TV “No signal” Plugged it into my 1080p TV in my bedroom, instant picture.
If the dock isn't properly getting into the switch could it still charge?, my dad is having the problem where his switch is fine and charges (and the green light on the dock comes on when u dock it) but it isn't being displayed on the TV, it was working fine on the TV just yesterday too, I know its not the dock of the cables because I put his switch in my dock and it still wasn't displaying on the TV and I just made sure mine was working in his dock on his TV. So it looks like dads switch charging port which is what connects it to the dock is slightly damaged (well it is i can see as much looking at it but it still charges so it can't be completely damaged).
The light on the dock wont turn on. For a while it would work but I'd have to put it in/ take it out a few times to get it to work. But now it's just not working. I tested the wires and they all work separately, any suggestions?
You’re the fucking man. Thank you so much. I was going insane. It was the power cord. I’m an idiot and somehow felt the connection without seeing it, but I had the usb-c end of the power cord into the hdmi input somehow. Once I actually looked at it when you got to the power cord step, that did it. I must emphasize again. You’re the fucking man.
Before Buying a New Doke And a new swich cable i unplugged everything from the swich the hdmi cable and the ac adpted cable and then i will plug it back tomorrow to see if it work but i am certain it will not
Brand new OLED right out of the box, and the tv recognizes there's an hdmi plugged in, bit the screen is just black and tv gives a "no signal" message. I'm pissed.
I tried your toothpaste method, slathered both sides with a butter knife, and it got the job done for me! Sadly I do have to reslather it every time I dock it, but anything's worth it to play Tears of the Kingdom! Edit: Since people have been asking, make sure you use the Colgate Max White One Whitening Toothpaste. Crest 3D White Brilliance Whitening Vibrant Peppermint Toothpaste DOES NOT WORK.
Another problem is that the cable could be connected wrong. For example, mine came with the official HDMI cable, one plug says nintendo, and the other says HDMI. Make sure the end that says nintendo is connected to the doc and the other end that is connected to the TV is the one that says HDMI.
That's wild! I never would have guessed that would matter. Mine is hooked up properly just out of OCD, but if I had it backwards I would have never thought of that.
This is my switch issue.. i place it on the dock. The green led lights up. The tv recognises the switch is connected and actually says "nintendo switch" on the hdmi input screen. But I don't get any picture at all from.the dock. So the tv is essentially talking to the switch through the dock and recognises what's connected, but that's it. Any thoughts guys?
I'm going to try solution 10 because I know my dock, ac adapter, and my monitor are working fine when my alternate Switch works in the dock mode, but my primary Switch does not. Additionally, my primary Switch goes blank mode when I undock it, which I can fix with a hard reset. Wish me luck.
Okay, I have a unique situation, my friend gifted me his old switch for my birthday, he didn't give me a dock, on Christmas, my family bought a new Nintendo switch for the family to use, that switch connects to the dock just fine, but for some reason my used switch won't work for the tv, what could be the issue?
My AC adapter works just fine, so does my HDMI cable. When I dock my Switch it charges, and the green light comes on. When I connect it to my roku TV, on the HDMI 1 channel it shows that my switch is connected. But when I select the channel it says that there is no signal. I tried using my friends dock as well and it doesn't work either. Any suggestions??
I got the same issue on my new Vizio TV too. Tried two docks, diff hdmi cables. Power cord is working. But it won’t come onto the tv. Also cleaned the ports with a tooth brush too
Everything is connected in the right place, the green light is on, and our tv even recognizes that something is connected but the switch screen still doesn’t show up. My siblings switch is 4 ish years old but still functions properly. My switch is 2 ish years old but it functions properly and the switch screen shows up on the tv with the same exact settings on the tv, the same dock, the same HDMI cord, and the same AC adapter. What the heck!!!
my switch has never been able to connect to a screen since i purchased it when it came out and even with these tips it still isnt working😕😕 ty for the video tho❤
Power cycle the system by holding the button for 20 seconds until it turns off, then turn it back on. Done right youll see the Nintendo symbol on start, just fixed mine this way. Hopefully helps
The switch I have the issue with might have a problem with its port. We have 2 switches. 1 is a dock killer . It charges and such if plugged in but will not work on a dock
My old dock works with my old switch and my oled dock works with my oled switch and they both charge interchangeably but if i switch the docks it wont show the picture on the tv. Nintendo's website says they should be able to be used interchangeably for tv play. Anyone else having the same problem?
Solution five when he said, if it you have to disconnect, the charger Nintendo charger on the dock, then put into the then put in the wall to charge the Nintendo switch. Does work but when I put into the dock put in the TV, the light doesn’t show up then what
My house got hit by lightning the switch wasn't connected to the dock at the time. But now the switch doesn't appear on the tv. The green light is on while its docked and charging. Any ideas if there is anything i can do to fix it? I am thinking the lightning probably fried the HDMI port.
Was playing in docked mode about 20 minutes ago and the tv pic suddenly disappeared, I tried un/replugging both the ac adapter and hdmi cables on both ends, switching hdmi ports, restarting the Switch itself, and I think one or two other things, then found this video, did the "plug AC adapter directly into switch" thing @98% battery and the battery symbol wasn't turning green. Tried a different outlet, same thing, so I'm pretty sure my AC adapter just up and died :/
@@HowToXBut if I put it in the dock and power it on, nothing will show on my OBS Studio(streaming and recording software) on my laptop. I have an HDMI cable connected from the dock to an Elgato HD60 X Capture card and an USB cable from the capture card into my laptop. I just get this error on my OBS Studio: "Elgato NO SIGNAL" I tried everything. Sorry for taking your time and thanks for your response! Have a great day!
I tried multiple hdmi cables on multiple ports and tvs. Screen is fine in handheld mode. I've checked for updates and did all the various unplug power off stuff. Only things I've yet to try is factory reset or a new dock
Can someone help me because i can not seem to change my resolution for my nintendo switch , when i put 720 p or higher it will show up a no signal at my tv, im only stuck at 480 p resolution of my nintendo switch
