When I have my switch in the dock, my TV says no “signal”, but when I take it out it says “check signal cable”. My TV says that there is an active HDMI connection in the HDMI port that I’m using, but it doesn’t connect.

Is this really what I’m in for? The fucking console is 4 years old and still having issues connecting to a TV out of the box? I can’t figure this garbage out nor should I have to. Every other console has been plug and play, my tv recognizes it before I even switch to the input. Not with the Switch though. Shame.

This worked for me! It was showing "no signal" on the TV - followed your directions and opened up the back of the switch and found the AC adapter was unplugged - THANK YOU from my Grand Boys!

My dock works perfectly fine apparently. Whenever I turn on the dock when I’m on a different hdmi setting it tells me that there is another signal on the other hdmi port and it asks me to switch to it. I go there and there’s no signal. Update: Aug 2021 Still wont work

that's because your dock is fine. The problem is with the Switch (console) itself. I bought another dock and same thing happened.

I'm guessing its the charging port from the Nintendo Switch, I believe its either dirty or simply not making enough contact with the dock to maintain a stable video connection. Other websites have pointed out the firmware, but I have ruled that out too. I decided to sell my switch since its on high demand, I would get a full return "as is" and not bug myself too much about it.

Hey guys this helped me - found it on reddit and it Has to be done in this order (start with nothing plugged into the dock) Plug in USB-C power adapter. Plug in HDMI to Dock. Plug in HDMI to TV. Put Switch in the Dock. Turn on TV and select input.

Jonathon Aguinada if the green light is not on for a while then I believe it suggests the dock itself has an issue. Does the dock normally not show a green light (for longer than a few seconds)?

Our HDMI cord just had to be flipped around and it finally worked! The Nintendo side goes into the t.v.

I have a switch that won’t connect I put in a different switch and it works so it’s not the tv or the dock, I changed the charging port thinking it was that and still not working, not to mention my son has dropped it a couple times and the screen is all shattered 😢

I think the problem is with the console ac port, because I was trying to get another console to know if is the dock the problem, but is not, and I tryed all of fixes, nothing works, nintendo support don't help any way too :/

Another tip: restart your Nintendo switch. (hold the power button then click power options then restart.) Put the switch back to the dock, and it should work.

oh my god i was so close to sending my switch in for repair, thinking my dock was faulty somehow! it never occurred to me to change the output resolution, since it's been on automatic for 5 years and it used to work just fine that way. thanks for saving me a bunch of time and money!

Mine isn't working on a RCA hd tv (720p) but it works as expected on a RCA full hd tv (1080p), I've even tried to change de resolution of the switch to 720p or 480p, plugging all cables in the correct order, using another HDMI cable, but no results.

I left my dock for about a year got dusty and the switch I played with it couple of times but that's it now I have this problem I cleaned my dock and use the TV that was work ING fine and new one I bought still no signal my TV show message that there is hdmi cable connected but no signal now idk if the problem from my switch or the dock I'm lost (note I used all instructions in the video)

Yeah I just realized my stuff isn’t even charging. But it must have just croaked because it was at 90% and now it’s 87 percent. No green light on the dock or charging sign. This sucks.

Mine stopped auto connecting after a power outage and I have to unplug it from power every time now for the tv to see it. So isn't a cable issue since it works fine once plugged back in.

Issue I was having was either power supply. I have crappy, about to blow, power strip. Second theory is if you’re using a Amazon Fire TV, use HDMI3 instead of 1 or 2. This seemed to solve my issue.

I wanted to add a fix that for now... seems to work. I disconnected the docking station from the power surge strip. I think that strip is what’s causing my issue, it’s a really old strip - probably 10 years old. Maybe I need to upgrade it.

Whenever the power surge strip was attached, did the the green light on the dock appear? Because the green light is an indicator that the power is working

Help! I've tried everything and my switch keeps saying "Could not connect to TV. Please make sure that you are using the AC adapter supplied with this console." I am using the official adapter and HDMI. My dock isnt the problem as it does charge when i put it into the dock, and i am trying to connect to a monitor.

FOUND A FIX.... I THINK.. LOL This used to happen to me. Sometimes it works on my tv and sometimes it doesn't however I think I found a fix!! On the switch, go to: Settings TV settings Turn OFF "Match Tv Power State" For some reason as soon as i turned this off, it automatically went onto my TV!

Well this is my case: my brother's friend bring this dock that is showing "no signal" message on TV... I have my own dock and it works perfectly, but my brother's friend doesn't, it seems like a HDMI issue inside the dock :/

Or you can do a physical manual reset of your power and audio video to do this unplug the power cable from the system and also from the TV do the same for the hdmi unplugging the cable from the system and the TV wait 30 seconds then replug them back in this discharges any built up static or electricity the system may have been building that caused the problem it is the same as what you would do for the blue light of death for ps4 systems

This is my switch issue.. i place it on the dock. The green led lights up. The tv recognises the switch is connected and actually says "nintendo switch" on the hdmi input screen. But I don't get any picture at all from.the dock. So the tv is essentially talking to the switch through the dock and recognises what's connected, but that's it. Any thoughts guys?

@@masrihuly Unfortunately I haven't found a fix. There seems to be a random time for how long it last. Sometimes it's 30 minutes, sometimes 5, and even rarely, an hour. But nevertheless, it just shuts off at random. Never had it go past 2 hours.

One thing to check…. Is the power in properly. Switch will not connect to TV on battery only. Must be plugged in. That was the solution for me

It keeps tell me if my device is on when its clearly on and my dad tried using different hdmi cables and nothing has worked that its got my stress level dangerously high and its irritating me. My switch has never had this problem before because before we moved it has worked on my tv just fine
