All these years of being a DIY handyman, I've always tightened the seat up from underneath, never with too much success.... so from this DIY, I would like to say a HUGE THANKS for your video, my only nit pick would be a bit shorter in length, but for those with no DIY, then this is FANTASTIC. I have been trying for ages to turn the screw under the toilet and couldn't understand why it didn't tighten. Today I resorted to YT and found you Bill. I'm unable to bend /kneel due to a dodgy hip and the skewing toilet seat was a nuisance to say the least. So it was a blessing to realise I can do this from above and don't have to reach down under the toilet, groping for the bolts like with my old toilet. WOW! Bill you are amazing! I have a gorgeous glitter toilet seat with hidden fixings in my bathroom! My lovely neighbour, who has been a knight in shining armour to me, fitted my new toilet seats and advised me that if they ever came loose, that he would be happy to readjust them. As a single, almost 60 year old woman, I like to be as self sufficient as possible. Without having to keep asking other kind souls for help. I googled for help on this issue, and hey presto, your video came up in exactly the right place for taking off the toilet seat and adjusting the hidden screws!!! OMG - I found a selection of screwdrivers, as I had no idea which one would work and with incredible ease, removed the toilet seat and tightened the screws and now it doesn't move. I feel very happy and incredibly accomplished now I have fixed my wiggly seat! A very happy fan! 😍 I could hug you!! x

Thank you so much, huge help. It was my mother's toilet. She's 78. She was afraid she was going to fall off and break her hip. I was stumped. I didn't know how to fix that toilet. It was the cadet style, so the wings were hidden underneath. Until you show me that, those pieces were pistons. And you push them and that removes that seat to reveal pins then they were US Allen's that were up under it. Outstanding, really appreciated man. I was about to call a plumber and be out of about $500.

Cheers cobber. Ours got installed 7-8 years ago and over the last couple of years has gradually had a tiny amount of slide to one side. Just had a look, figured out the pistons easily but after that did a bit of head scratching.

Bill, you're a star! The two secret catches to release the seat - this was the missing link ! If anyone else is here because you looked at other videos and still can't see how to release your seat to even lift it off, watch this two minutes in. Lifesaver!

So......I've been "suffering" with the stupid loose toilet seat, because it's a top fix with no bottom acces (which is how I've resolved this issue in the past).
