Love the how to use the multimeter for drone testing :) thank you for sharing. my motor is dead it just cant hold a steady rev or just stops running i even swapped the 1 to 4 just to make sure it wasnt the esc .

I just fix my twitching motor, it turned out to be bad. SOOO ,I rewound the 1507 motor, took 5 tries, lol. So far so good, and barely warm when flown. I’m goood! 😎👌🏽

Great stuff! Was it your first try? I'm doing the same here.. Too impatient to wait 1 month to get new motors.

@@CleverFPV my first try on a very small motor stator. Very tricky. When finished, your multimeter should not beep from continuity, if it does, do over, lol. Agreed, can’t wait for motors. BUT, must have lots of patience to wind. Lol. Good luck fellow FPV’r. 👍

Thanks for beginning the video with that diode test, I was unaware of this technique up until now. Both motors on the side of the ESC that I attached an XT60 battery lead were twitching. I must've transferred too much heat to the ESC when soldering and cooked that side of the board. Very frustrating but glad to be done with wasting my time. Thanks again!

This isn't really fixing a motor though, it's replacing a motor...

Are you just extended the wires, and then change 2 wires to change the motor direction?
@CleverFPV
@CleverFPV 3 года назад
Hey Gabriel. I cut the old motor wires close to the motor so they became an extension. I highly recommend soldering wires to the board as little times as possible because it is relatively easy to overheat the pads on the board and rip them off. Using wire extensions your ESC will last longer. And yes, to change the motor direction you just flip any two of the motor wires. It is also possible to change the direction via ESC firmware settings, however I do not recommend doing that since the further you go from stock settings, the more confusion you will get in the future when troubleshooting things.

Misleading title, you don't fix the motor but exchanging it.
@CleverFPV
@CleverFPV 3 года назад
sure! this is a real-life scenario for troubleshooting a twitching motor issue. Going through the steps to figure out which part is faulty. In this case it was burned out motor windings. You can of course fix the motor by rewinding it (managed to do that a couple of times), however these days it makes more sense just to replace it as it takes so much time to wind that it becomes economically unprofitable.
@AAEndrU
@AAEndrU 3 года назад
@@CleverFPV So you are intentionally misleading people. Let's be honest - you were just lucky to have the same one in stock. Otherwise it is quite the same effort economically to re-wire a motor then buying it on the corner. But if sy has to order it from China (sometimes months), or it is not sold anymore, it is definietly more effective to repair it (wires are quite cheap actually), then buying four new motors. So your argument is not really valid, just say you are lazy :)

I have your exact same problem (same twitching pattern) with my f7 beast aio. I swapped out a motor, same problem. The weird thing is that at first it didn't work, then it randomly started to spin correctly and while flying I had a deathroll. The problem started again. I think I'll buy a new aio. Anyway, great video!

So.. "replace the motor".. that would have been a 3s video..
@CleverFPV
@CleverFPV 3 года назад
Well. Yes and no. There are many reasons why motor can be twitching, i.e. broken ESC, broken wire connection, stuck rotor due to dirt and/or mechanical deformation of the bell or even settings of ESC. This video shows how to find the fault without taking the quad apart 🙃

To long of a motor screw contacting the windings can also cause “motor twitch” or overheating. Checking continuity between the esc pads and motor screws will let u know the windings have been compromised…

@@Bullitain first MAKE SURE it’s the motor..and if u do have to replace it.. consider yourself lucky. A motor is a lot cheaper than a esc!

one of my motors is spinning correctly without propeller but as soon as I put on the propeller its starts twitching.... why is that?
@CleverFPV
@CleverFPV 2 года назад
If you measure with multimeter as per this tutorial, are the values correct? If so, did you change any of the ESC settings? It could be that you have lowered the motor startup current. Also, maybe there is a mechanical obstacle somewhere when you put the propeller on? Maybe the motor wires have some intermittent connection issues - electrical connection is lost when putting the propeller on (for example you put a finger on wires and bend them to a position where the connection is lost) ?
