You're a doll. After about 6 searches, I found yours ! 👌. My screw fell out, causing the entire blade assembly to fall apart spring and all. Followed your instructions and GOOD TO GO ! Thumbs up 👍
Deeann, I appreciate you taking the time to produce this video. It helped me reassemble the puzzle. However, I believe your advise is misguiding. At the begin of the video you stated there should three flat spacers, one of which you could not find and two shouldered spacers. After searching the entire refrigerator, freezer areas and accusing the cat of eating it. It eluded me. I determined this could not be correct. There are only two flats and two shouldered spacers. A third will not fit on the shaft. If we identify the flat spacers as F, the shouldered as S, the triangle blades as B (stamped as 1,2,3), and the L shaped piece as L. Your assembly from bottom to top was F,B,S,L,B,S,L,F,B. Notice only two flat spacers (F) were used. It did not align properly after completely reassembling the Ice Caddie. The correct sequence of assembly is B1,S,L,F,B2,S,L,F,B3. Notice this sequence provides even spacing and automatically advances the angle of each blade. Thank You...
Some models are slightly different however the assembly is basically the same. My model has only two flat washers but I am very grateful for the assistance and the time you spent to help people you don't even know. Bless you!.
I love RU-vid for content like this. Same problem... that end screw had come loose and the grinding mechanism was falling apart. I had a pile of parts on the kitchen table but could not figure out how it went together until I watched this video. Very nicely explained. By the way, mine only had 5 stainless steel screws and 2 of the flat white washers. The final step of getting the back on does require some patience. But I eventually got it all pulled together properly. Thanks again!
Thank you. The entire unit fell apart when we took it out. Even the Sears guy didn't know how to fix it. This video saved the day. Thank you! Invaluable!
Thank you!! You just saved the day! Screw worked loose and I was stuck after blades fell apart. Searched all over the net for a diagram and came up short. I think I love you! Seriously, thanks for the great help!
I just got done fixing the ice maker, and went to go clean out the ice bin in the sink. The entire crusher assembly fell apart (into many pieces, springs washers and all) into the sink and some went into the disposal (not on). Sigh. I counted to 10, went and googled it...and found your video. I fixed it within 10 mins. Thank you!
Awesome, we have a Kenmore Elite and your video gave me an idea how to assemble probably saving me $500 repairs in todays world. Mine is a little different but was able to get it to work. Thank you.
You're Awesome! Your video was a lifesaver! I have a Kenmore Elite but it is pretty much the same as the LG with just a few minor differences. I watched your video and was able to tweak the assembly to get my ice caddy working again. My O-rings with the lip go on the opposite direction( facing down) and I start at the base without an O-ring but end up with a ring butted up against the cap with the screw. I also have a dual plastic guide that springs up and down when it dispenses. I had to figure out how to put that in. Other than these minor differences, your video guided me perfectly on how to assemble my ice dispenser. I can't thank you enough! :)
Thanks sooooo much for time and step by step instructions on fixing an LG ice bin. I consider myself pretty handy at most things but this had me stumped. My wife asked me a couple days later if I knew what a spring she found on the floor was for. I’m glad I kept it because your video solved that question. Your video made the assembly fairly easy, and my gosh it worked. You just saved me over $100.00 for a new assembly. I was so surprised you were the only video with instructions. Thank you again.
Just what I needed. My machine is only 3 years old. Called Lowes extended warranty, said I need an ice bucket. They said I could buy one online and they would cover 50% or have a service call. GEEZ. My shaft has a hole for some type of pin. Had a metric screw and nut that did the trick. The pin must have ended up in my whiskey :)
Thank You.... my bin on our LG LFX28978ST started to come apart so I decided I needed to pull the bin apart to attempt repair. When things started REALLY coming apart I was a bit concerned that I'd have trouble getting it beck together but your video helped (minus the extra washer issue ; ) and I was able to put the puzzle back together fairly easily & feel accomplished!! Thanks for taking the time to help strangers with their ice bin issues. 😁👍🏼
This was a great help. When I got the ice out of the box, all of the parts fell out too as the screw had come out. So it was just a puzzle. This video allowed me to get it back together without calling the repair guy
I used this video to figure out a different model ice maker. Mine was from a Kenmore Elite stainless fridge. The model I have has two extra arms not found on your model. The order on the Kenmore Elite is: flat washer, triple blade gear, pyramid washer, ringed arm, flat washer, dual blade gear, pyramid washer, ringed arm, flat washer, dual blade gear, pyramid washer, ringed arm, triple blade gear, end cap with screw. The trickiest part was fitting the trap door assembly into the small hole on the other half while simultaneously keeping the blade assembly in place. What a HEADACHE! BUT... I got it! Thanks!
Thank you for your blade order on the Kenmore Elite!!!! It worked great, a little problem getting it in but your info on the blade/washer order made the day!
Thank you for the video. I have a Kenmore Elite that the door ice bin is the same. I think LG makes fridges for Kenmore now. That little screw came out on our too and all the parts spilled everywhere. Your guide was very helpful and saved me a trip to Sears to have them put it back together. There were a few extra parts for the spring loaded chute at the bottom, but they went back together more intuitively. Thanks again.
Thank you thank you thank you! I could not figure this thing out to safe my life. I have only one slight correction. The blades are numbered 1 -2-3 so when you put them back on in that order they end up in a progressive formation. The way you put your blades back may not work quite as well. But I am grateful beyond measure for this video and for you taking the time to make it!
Thank you very much for your video. I had the same issue just yet, and one thing you and I got wrong were the blades... The blades are labeled 1, 2, and 3. The number should be facing you when you assemble it. Also the blades should be assembled in phase so that there is a gap between blades when you select ice cubes, if the blades are assembled out of phase, the ice cubes have difficulty coming out. Also you didn't miss any pieces. All your spacers were there.
what do you mean blades should be assembled in phase? does it mean 1 then 2 then , and or do you flip flop the blades going in different direction? thanks....love this video
Linda Pendergast in phase means all aligned. Out of phase means one blade goes ahead of the second and the second ahead of the third. They should be aligned like runners on a track behind the start line all in the same position. I made the mistake to place them out of phase and ice wouldn't come out.
Well I can't believe it because I got it all back together!! HUGE THANKS to Deeann Kidd and several others who had a slightly different combination of blades, shoulder washers and flat washers. Getting the darn plastic pieces to slide into the groves on the sides took WAY longer for me but gosh, it works! I had 3 flat washers, 3 shoulder washers as my gear arm thingy has 3 arms, not 2. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! My LG unit is LSC24971 from about 2011 and trying to locate a new or refurbished ice bucket assembly online was futile due to the age and all the pictures of the replacement part were different from mine, plus over $200+ so I'm thrilled! After dumping some ice from a zip lock baggie to test it because I couldn't wait for ice to form, I've got crushed ice and cubes. Omg...YAYAY!! Thanks everyone once again!
Fingers crossed that I reassembled this stuff on my Mom's Kenmore Elite. I pulled the tray out to pour out a mas of cubes and the blades tumbled out as well. Sure enough, here's a terrific RU-vid video. Also, I concur with Jon Johnson's advice below, which was also very helpful. Hardest part was marrying the tow plastic halves of the tray. That tested my patience.
Thank you so much! Agree with the commenters who mentioned that there are really only two flat washers and that the blades are actually numbered 1 2 3 with numbers facing you, 1 at the base and 3 at the screw head end.
Actually, I love that the washer count is off by one - it made me take a closer look at how I built back the gears. You made this fix so real and positive, that I knew I would be able to Fonzi the project to destination DONE and you brought us home. The fact that the replacement bin costs $70 caused me to find you, so my family owes you a drink when we see you. Thanks!
You are a lifesaver!!!! I think I am missing a washer. I recall finding something that looks like that but not knowing where it went or what it was! Thank you!
Thanks! This is the exact same dispenser in my mom's Kenmore Elite. But just a heads up for anyone else watching. There are only two flat washers, not three as mentioned at the start. I thought I was missing one so I stopped the video and went to my shop and made one out of some nylon I had laying around. Sooo..
I went into a home depot and looked at a new unit, and i think the correct order is: Triblade, shoulder washer, fixed eye blade, flat washer, triblade, shoulder washer, fixed eye blade, flat washer, triblade, endcap, screw. Locktite was a great suggestion.
Followed the video and also Jon's notes in another comment... I think the correct order, from back to front, is actually blade 3, shoulder washer with the narrow end out, L blade, flat washer, blade 2, flat washer, L blade, shoulder washer with the narrow end in, blade 1, cap, screw. The blade numbers should be facing front so you can read them as you screw in the screw.
This was a great video - quick and to the point. Somehow my spring ended up coming out the ice dispenser and I still have no clue how that happened so I took it all apart to see where it might go. This was the only video that showed where the spring goes. By the way - I assume anyone watching this video might have ice freezing problems...like I did. I learned that just by slightly backing off the water pressure to the ice maker, it reduces the "splashing" that spills out of the ice tray while re-filling after an ice dump. This fixed the ice freezing issue by not having water splash into the bin. Happy crunching!
Fyi you do not need 3 of the flat washer, the bottom or number 1 blade closet to the back where motor hooks on to sites on the plastic itself. So there are total of 2 of the washers with posts and 2 of the flat white washers, total 4 washers. I had to take mine apart to shave off some plastic on the side as the blades were chipping plastic off and going in the drinks. Also can use a longer screw as well instead of the smaller one that comes.. to add more threads binding i guess.
The screw came out again after I used thread locker last time . I went to my local hardware store and picked up a little longer stainless threaded screw , flat , and lock washer . I assembled it again using the new hardware as well as thread locker .We'll see if it comes loose again . I made sure the new screw didn't bottom out before all was tight . Working well again .
I wish I could post a picture, but you are wrong on order. The two step washers go with (center) the crusher arms so that the rotating assembly doesn’t clamp up on the crusher arms. Also the rotating star blades are numbered 1, 2, 3 and go on in that order. Also the crushing groves face the crushing arms as to crush the ice.
I noticed the three loose blades were numbered 1-3. I put them on #1, then #2 (only slightly offset from #1), then #3 (only slightly offset from #2). Too bad we can't post photos here. We'll see how that performs.
Thank you, thank you! I've spent countless hours looking for a diagram on how to re-assemble this ice bin. LG customer service certainly wasn't any help. They want you to order a new one, which is ridiculous overpriced. It seems dumb to buy the whole bin when it's just the blades that keep falling out. Thanks for the tip about Lock-tight. I used it, so maybe it will stay together for a while.
she is putting it together correct - no need for the 3rd washer she is talking about in the beginning and not using anyway ;) - just make sure you suse the plades as markes starting with 1 …2….3..
I had to reassemble mine today when I took it out to empty the ice and all the blades fell out because the screw came loose. In your video, it looks like you already disassembled and reassembled it once so your blades and washer orders are already incorrect. The blades have numbers on them and I believe the order should be 3,2,1. Watch this video for correct assembly: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pKbjXXQ8FaA.html.
