Awesome, thank you! Just did this on my 2010 Silverado... works perfectly now. I only had one difference in my radio where I had to remove a heat shield from behind my faceplace before it revealed the circuit board. Thanks again man, saved me from replacing a whole radio
This might be a bit dated, ut do you know the part number or anywhere to find replacement female 3.5 jacks? My dog decided to headbutt my aux cord and it chipped the port a little. Long story short, the cable has to be taped down to stay in aux mode. My solder joints are fine, but this will be useful for having to resolder later
I have a Tahoe but my problem is that the round plastic part on the auxiliary port cracked so i can still connect a cable but it doesn't stay completely fit. Do they sell those little round plastics?
hmm. I just took my head unit out, took the face off. And found out that they must make different models. I have none of those plastic "light diffusers?" and my Aux port is on a seperate 1x1 inch board. Seems like an updated version trying to fix just this problem? The contacts were fine, I'll touch them up anyway just to do something now that I've got it apart. But I don't think it'll fix my buzzing. I have tried it with different phones and aux cables btw.
I just did it myself and the most difficult part about it was undoing the tiny hex screws to get to the circuit board. The soldering was easy and I've only done soldering once other than this.
That was similar to my problem, it seemed that my aux would only connect in certain positions. Maybe try a new aux cord and if that doesn't work this video might solve the problem
Mine turns on to aux all the time, listening to radio, flips to aux, listening to CD, flips to aux, seems to me a loose connection is likely. Plus when using the aux, it kinda cuts in and out when wiggled. I should try this fix
I just did this, definitely broken solder points on the aux Jack, havent driven around at all yet but so far it seems solid and good to go now.those little screws pain in the a@$... couldn't find a 1/8inch driver anywhere, one store I did buy one from, turned out the driver was not even actually 1/8" as advertised. Returned it. Got another set from another store and that one didn't have right size either... 3.0mm and 3.5mm. Needle nose pliers I used. Lol thanks for the good informative video!
Yeah I have the same exact problem with my 2013 Malibu. When driving the radio will randomly keep jumping to the AUX channel (even though nothing is connected to the AUX USB port) making the radio useless.
I have the same stereo but where the aux port is a part of a circle broke so stereo doesn't even read it can you guide me to fixing and what port to buy
