How To Fix Broken/Flappy Ford Mustang Gas Cap Door (May work for other Ford models!)

In this video I fix my 2015 ford mustang's broken/flappy gas door. From what I know this is a common issue, so I made a video and some tips to help you fix yours.

Thanks for the video. Dealership said the part wasn’t covered under warranty and I’d have to pay $400 to fix it. One RU-vid video later and problem has been solved. :)

ATTENTION 2013-2020 LINCOLN MKZ OWNERS: It's a pretty similar fix on the MKZ although I would suggest taking the wheel well liner out and unbolting the fuel filler neck (torx screw holding in shiny pipe) so you can push the gas door from the back and move the fuel filler neck easily. This will also make the evap line easier to pull out. The MKZ door is wide so you will want the extra wiggle room.

2013 Ford Fusion. Very similar fix. The secondary gasket that’s behind the filler neck is a pain in the ass to fit over filler neck when you’re installing it. It just takes a bit of trial and error to get it over the neck. Overall about a 30 minute start to finish. This video helped

I have 2013 Fusion as well. How did you install back in ? That rubber is not going over the filler neck, beside there is excess fuel tube that need to be connected back to that hole by the filler neck. I am wondering how you put that tube back in place as well..

@@Jakhongir90 what I did to get that main seal over the filler neck tube I really wouldn’t advise. I ended up cutting a little bit of the seal off. I got tired of fighting it. Other than that it was almost identical to the video. The seal that mates to the under side of the filler cap was easy to put on. Getting the whole assembly back inside the fender took a little bit of force and wiggling around. Just follow this video and it’ll help

They all use probably very similar OEM parts from Ford.

It's a pretty similar fix although I would suggest taking the wheel well insulation out and unbolting the fuel filler neck (torx screw holding in shiny pipe) so you can push the gas door from the back and move the fuel filler neck easily. The MKZ door is wide so you will want this. I'm going to post this in a top level comment too for my fellow MKZ boyz
