Seen a few of you have been asking about the Cricut calibration sheet. There is a link in the description but dropping it here as well 😊 Hope this helps! help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009424974-Calibrating-your-machine-for-Print-Then-Cut Rebecca x
Hi Ruth, I know, it's mad. I can't believe how many people have watched this video either .... and that these problems haven't been sorted properly yet by Cricut. Really hope you get it working and can focus on designing! x
These are great tips. Unfortunately, I am still not able to get it to work. I am definitely returning the machine as it has completely defeated me from even wanting to continue to try. Wasted so much money on materials and ink for my printer. This shouldn't be this difficult.
Oh my god you just saved me from throwing my machine out of the window. Obviously I needed a British cricut RU-vidr to get the answer I needed. Thanks so much
Thank you sooooooo much! I was almost in tears with all the paper I was wasting! The force firmware update, PDF save then print, and closing the top of the Cricut machine worked!
I was pulling my hair out as well!! One day it worked perfectly, then there was an update. Worked awful after that. Tried recalibrating what seemed like 50 times. Came across your video and went through your suggestions. Uninstalling and reinstalling is what worked for me. Thank you so much!!!
Oh my word Rebecca! I can't thank you enough this Cricut almost went out of the window! Cricut help pages do not tell you the A4/US paper confusion! Life saver thank you!
I'd been having this issue for months, and went to Cricut where they said that there was a fault with the light in my machine, so they replaced it and once again I had the same issue. I was this close to just asking for a refund on the machine, but I tried the US Letter print and it actually worked. Thank you!
Thank you! You have helped me sooooo much. This is going to be a journey...not a short walk. I have already changed my thinking and have seen such an improvement.
Your video has been very helpful. I have now calibrated my Cricut Marker using your advice and successfully done my first Print and Cut that has worked out very well. Thanks.
I've literally tried everything and you're video really worked! I believe for me it was closing to top of my cricut machine and going through the recalibration process haha. God bless you!
Thanks for this video we spent a couple of hours trying to sort out the calibration, your tips did the trick. I think the biggest issue is the paper size. Thanks again.
I’m really glad I found this video! I kept recalibrating my explore air irk how many times and it still wouldn’t cut properly on my print and cuts. I plan to try some of these hacks thank you so much for sharing
The calibration tip worked for me thanks been a pain of cutting my stickers but it’s cut perfectly around the square so hopefully I can make some more stickers for my shop 👍🥰
Me too. I was just on the phone with cricut because I can't even get cricut to do the calibration sheet to no avail. I'm disgusted with cricut and I don't think I'm purchasing another crucut.
Thank you so much!!!! I was about to throw mine in the trash!! Needless to say, cricut will not be my next cutting machine, but I can keep mine a little longer. Holy cow what a pain.
Thank you for this, I've just been through things on ours which sat on a shelf for a few years and needed a calibration for a new PC - it was the letter size bit, and as I'd been calibrating on the wrong print settings and scale it took a while to set things right as it had shifted so far down.
Thank you so much! It actually worked by printing the PDF sheet instead, I could actually see the difference in the print, the calibration sheet that was printing directly from the design space was off, so I used the one from the Cricut site and made sure it was on Letter size and print full image and just followed the prompts on the Cricut. Thank you so much for the information :)
I tried everything, and nothing worked. I finally caught your comment about the firmware update. Once I did that it worked like a charm. Thank you! If you’re having no luck, be sure to do a firmware update!
I'm so thankful I found your video I was having issues with my maker reading the registration marks I have been dealing with it for months I have watched so many RU-vid videos nothing was working until I forced it to update the firmware and oh my goodness it worked thank you thank you thank you
I just tried some of your tips and got it to work first time. The main thing for me was to print to PDF first and then print full size. I didn't select a paper size but the cut was perfect. How you don't have more subscribers is beyond me. Great video, nicely delivered and you solved a problem that was driving me slightly mad :) thanks!
I’m so pleased this helped, I am honestly shocked at how many views this has had! I had no idea so many people were having problems! I just thought I would put something together to try and help as I was so frustrated myself!
@RebeccaYates Not kidding when I say you have given so many of hope knowing how to correct these problems. Never realized there could be so many variables. The one about the light could very well be one of my problems here because I noticed when it is late and the ceiling light is on, it almost always begins to cut off center. Thanks sooooo much!
Thank you for this I was about to drive hours to the nearest mountains and just huck my Cricut off a cliff🤣 I figured it out before finding your video today but saving this because I know I will forget how to do this🤦♀️
this was so helpful, thank you so much!! i also got my cricut last november as a birthday gift but ive barely been using it because of this. im gonna be sure to try all these tips!! thank you again
This helped us tremendously and just save me from going through 20 more sheets of paper! Thank you for collating all this helpful information into a quick video!
I applaud your ingenuity, but I hate to say it; calibration shouldn’t be this heart breaking. Cricut acted like this couldn’t be happening; they made me video my whole process and then wanted me to ship the machine to them. I was able to “trick” the machine at one point: To far left was my only problem; correct calibration was 7, I input 5 (which was a little counter-intuitive). It cut the square nicely, but the designs were off. I am returning the machine.
Update: after all the hours of frustration, which we’ve all experienced, I returned my Explore Air 2. I was able to calibrate in one try. I also noted in their literature that “ all Cricut machines come pre-calibrated.” Rise up and return your Cricut!😎
I cant tell you how grateful i am for this video. I was seconds away from throwing my brand new Maker 3 out of the window, i spent all morning trying to cut one sheet properly. I finally got it, thank you so much
Thank you for making this video! I tried a combination of saving as PDF and printing with the additional print settings available that way, and closing the cricut lid (as I do have a lighting issue in my office) The stickers came out much better than before! Still not 100% perfect but definitely a major improvement so I’m happy!
Calibration finally solve! I believed its Cricut calibration feature faulty. They probably know but refused to admit because they'll have to do a recall for sure! If you keep calibrating, and select the best cut on the Number Top and Letter to the Right, it'll keep adjust. Use this as an adjustment for your off cut and just keep adjust till cut where you need it. Ignore the calibration box and anything else!
OMG you saved my life, first of all my calibrations never worked, did the pdf thing with US paper size (I am in Spain) and that did it. The other thing is that for 2 years I have been fighting with my cricut with different lights etc because it always had problems reading the lines, today I closed the lid FIXED! amazing how simple it was LOL. Thanks so much one of the most useful videos!
My cricut won't even calibrate. It wont read the sensor marks to calibrate or to print and cut anything. Its really frustrating. I just got it too a few days ago. Im so sad.
This was extremely helpful and straightforward. I've been having trouble with print and cut forever and I feel like everything I tried didn't work, so I really appreciate it! Thank you so much!
After many calibration attempts and wasted sheets and ink, I discovered two additional steps that fixed my sticker alignment issue. One, my printable vinyl media was rarely flat in the printer feed tray like a sheet of copy paper would be. The humidity makes it curl a bit and it would not feed straight. Then, after printing, I started measuring the distance from the left media edge at the top and bottom to the Registration Box and I discovered that many times it was off by 1 or 2 millimeters. When I adjusted the placement on the mat to make the registration box even with the mat side alignment line, it cut perfectly time after time even though the paper is not aligned. Good Luck! Cheers from Texas.
I just nudge it on my air 2. I use the draw and cut settings which was good for a few months until last month. everything is off by .762mm/.03" to the right and .635mm/.025" to the bottom. I've done all the hacks even those that just apply to print then cut, but nothing works. Cricut had an actual update that wasn't just me forcing an update a few days ago, and it worked for less than a day. Then the machine said it had to update again and that undid all software fixes for the margin error. For a moment I was like,'is cricut doing the iphone thing to get you to buy the newest machine,' but I've heard that it's bad across the board.
I'm super thankful to had found this video and for your tips !! For me personally, I was using A4 and after transferring over to US Letter sizing and re-cabilrated, the cut went precisely how I needed it to. Thank you so much again! ~
I'm going nuts, I've tried everything you've mentioned. I started with a project forcing me to calibrate. First calibration was close to accurate. From there it just turned to nightmare... it started cutting completely next to the square, I wasted so much paper printing full size, through open windows rather than cricut, every single thing... closing the top, all of it. Finally decided to force update the machine, and now it won't even recognize lines anymore... I reinstalled design space, tried from my iphone, all of it... I'm so close to throwing this machine through the window...! Am I the only one still failing?
Hi Rebecca, thank you for this video. I am watching it nearly one year later, sat with my new Explore 3. I have tried everything you mentioned but........ the cut still isn`t right. I have say 6 round cornered square to be cut. The top two are nearly perfect, the next 2 down go off a little to the left and the bottom two are off to the left even more. I have made sure my machine is on a level surface. I have my lid closed and also lean over the machine to cast a shadow, all to help it read the lines. Have you experienced this? Help!!
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT MY CALIBRATION ISSUE! It only took me 2 weeks rofl. I used the print to actual size with PDF, lighting (which helped a lot but was still off) and everything under the sun. THEN after I got it to as close as I could but still off enough that it still sometimes cuts into my art and is lopsided.... i figured why not and did this: I noticed that even after using the calibration sheet and choosing the line that was exactly in the center that my cuts were still shifted to the left and a little high up. So, instead of choosing the exact center for the horizontal and vertical lines, i chose an option that was shifted a little to the right and below the marked lines. That absolutely did the trick. Everything cuts exactly now
A month and a half ago, I was doing one image printing and cutting, I struggled, but I always blame myself, since I’m new to Cricut. I printed the image in png format and the cutting was painstaking. The sensor starts, stops, starts, stops and shuts down. At one point he did a scan and cut out the image. So I succeeded. As I was doing other projects Cricut rested until yesterday. I've been killing myself since yesterday, saving pictures, setting them up correctly, printing, 100 pieces of paper are gone. Print is clear and clean but the sensor does not read lines. My head is pounding from browsing the tutorial and at the end of my strength I stumble upon this video. I see that you all already had problems long before I noticed, given that in Croatia we deal with tutorials from other countries. So, if I understood correctly, printing from PDF and then the Cricut sensor should read the image well and ultimately be well cut.
Rebecca!!!!!! I've just got to give you the biggest THANKS for your help!!! I am sooo grateful for your honesty in writing, that you changed to a silhouette portrait. I was nerveous about the thought of spending more money on yet another machine, but it was sooo worth it! I am sooo happy with the results I am finally getting after months of being stressed about the non cooperative cricut (when it came to print then cut). Thank you so much!
No worries at all! The other week I recorded an update to this video comparing both the machines, not got round to editing it yet! The software for silhouette really has the edge as well, it’s so much quicker to design now. I was so nervous to try it out but I do think it’s a better machine x
I agree that we should not work this hard for something that we bought… I was getting the same problem for two days straight on my maker & I have printed about 20 calibration sheets.. 😢😢 Finally the little square cut right. What I did was I used the app on my phone rather than my PC to calibrate the machine. But I left the printer settings on A4.
Any suggestions on why I get a continual loading circle saying "measuring material length" when I click the load mat button as prompted? It will bring the mat in and then just stop and do nothing unless I click the load button again to remove it, yet the screen still says that it is measuring the material length. I have not been able to calibrate at all due to not being able to get past this one part. I am using regular US letter printer paper that's 8.5 x 11.
something that was huge for me, i was in Beta mode, i couldn't get accurate print then cut in beta to save my life but as soon as i switched back to live it fixed all my print then cut issues, hope this helps someone
I don’t even want to print just cut and still gives me problems like it can’t read the lines ,is there’s anything I can do because I’m about to switch to brother scan n cut
Hi, Rebecca! OMG I just figured out what was happening to my Cricut and this video was the salvation of me throwing my Cricut out the window and giving up. All this time it was the Letter configuration!! I just didn't know and it cuts perfectly accurate now
GAME CHANGER TIPS!!!! Thank you so much for this video!!! I was so close to giving up on Print then Cut. I'm a tech-savvy girly, but I couldn't for the life of me get this to work for me. Turns out, I needed to turn off the light and align the mat left. Thank you for saving my faith in my Cricut!!! 🙏
I cannot thank you enough. I had to eventually uninstall Design Space and reinstall and then I updated the firmware and those two steps did the trick. Got great accuracy with the calibration. Should not have attempted calibration on my own. I only made matters worse. Had I watched your video first, I would have figured that the cutout around the square was close enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
Thaaannnnkkk Yoou soooo much, i've been watching different videos regarding this topic, because my circuit machine has never printed my projects, whenever i used photon paper and i end up cutting by hand. I tried closing down the top of the cricuit as you suggested and my machine is cutting my stickers for the first time.
I'm really struggling to just cut centrally! I am using a joy, and the calibration option is just greyed out so I cannot even figure out how to calibrate it to tell if this is the issue! It's driving me bonkers. Cricut website has nothing about this and don't respond to queries!
Hi, Thanks for your help. Quick question I’m using an iPad for the Cricut app and have the latest air explorer I’m based in the Eu. Still having problems with collaboration and it’s only new out of the box any ideas. Thanks
Thank you SO much! I followed your tips exactly and finally got acceptable results. For me, I think it was selecting Yes instead of No when asked about the accuracy of the first calibration box. Such a helpful video!
Im confused, does the calibration image have to b printed at the size of each print and cut image? Like, if I want to print and cut an image with 6.75 and 9.25 registration boarder, does that mean I first need to print a calibration image with a 6.75 and 9.25 registration boarder so that it will match my project design?
Just to add one more that I found on Reddit and seems to be working (so far) when i try to calibrate print then cut there is not option to pick a printer. I logged out, created a new account, logged in as that and bingo, it can find the printer, calibrated as normal and it seems to be cutting ok..... I logged back into the original account and it still can't find the printer so does this mean it's a software issue?? I can calibrate on my original account on my ipad but not my laptop
